Successful trip to Blackpool

84 members of St Joseph's Juvenile Soccer club which included 30
adults made a memorable trip to Blackpool last weekend. The trip
which was spear - headed by committee member Bernard Mullen included 3
teams at u 12, u13 and u14 level. After a very competitive tournament
the u14 squad emerged victorious winning the Blackpool Cup. The trip
was subsidised by the proceeds from a Disco, cake sales and bag
packing ventures. All participants travellelling had T-shirts with
the logo "Blackpool 2010".
St. Joseph's, who are 10 years in existence, field 8 teams in the
Carlow juvenile league, with the u11's and u14's in contention for
honours. The club have 150 registered juvenile members and the hard-
working committee chaired by Liz Kennedy, David Larkin secretary and
Diarmuid O'Shea treasurer have done trojan work developing their
grounds at McArdles cross. These grounds now have floodlighting and 2
new pre-fabs for dressing and equipment rooms. There is also ample
parking facilities nearby. St Joseph's senior soccer team currently
play in the White's pharmacy league under a sepapate management.
