Carlow Soccer League

St Pats 6 St Josephs 4

St Pats came out deserving winners in this Under 12 cup match on Saturday. St Joseph’s got off to a great start with a Seán Delaney goal in the 8th min. Two mins later they were two up when Christopher Gaul’s shot came off the post and he finished off the rebound to the net. St Joseph’s were completely on top at this stage but in fairness to St Pats, they didn’t give up and they got a goal back in the 18th min. This seemed to spur them on and in the 21st min they were back on level terms. This score seemed to have shell shocked St Joseph’s and just on the stroke of half time St Pats went ahead for the first time.
H.T. score St Pats 3 St Joseph’s 2.
St Pats were now in control of the game and were putting the Joey’s defence under considerable pressure. Despite the great efforts of Niall Fitzpatrick, Neil Byrne and Martin Farrell, St Pats ended the game as a contest when they scored another two goals by the 50th min.
Despite this St Joseph’s still didn’t give up and they were rewarded for their hard work with two goals from Eoin Maddock in the 51st and 54th min.
St Pats finished their scoring in the 52nd min to make the final score 6-4.
St Pats were deserving winners on the day. St Joseph’s were disappointed to have let a two goal lead slip away from them. Best for St Joseph’s were Neil Byrne, Eoin Maddock, Martin Farrell and Seán Delaney.
