Under 13 League
Hanover Harps 1-5 St Josephs
St Josephs who are contesting strongly for the league took on Hanover in The Plots on Saturday. Despite the score line this was not an easy match and every player had to play their part. The first 10 minutes was very even with both midfields having to grind it out. Josephs got the breakthrough when Jeff Sutton controlled a long ball brilliantly and rifled the ball to the net. This spurred the home side more and they camped in the Josephs half for the next 5 minutes but then Jeff Sutton broke to put Josephs 2-0 up. The game was still in the balance and Hanover scored just before half time to leave it 1-2 at the break.
The second half saw Josephs start to move the ball quicker and despite the home side putting more pressure on the Joeys defence the away side were now looking more composed. Josephs were awarded a penalty after 15 minutes which Darren Murphy scored and when Dean Farrell scored a great goal in the 25th minute the points were safe. Darren Murphy finished the scoring just before the end with another fine effort. In another fine team performance Eric Bates, Paul Costello and Dean Farrell excelled.
