The soccer season gets under way on Saturday 11th September when St Josephs under 13s take part in the Tullow Tournament. They will play 2 games on Saturday and if they are winners they will advance to the final on Sunday. Training for the under 13 team is at 7:30pm on Thursdays. Pat Finnerty is team manager. This tournament is used as a means of selection for next years Kennedy Cup Squad.
Registration for the coming season continues and it is vital that if you want to play for St Josephs that you complete your registration. Remember that due to lack of Team Trainers squads are going to be limited so to make sure that you are able to play get your registration to the club secretary as quick as possible. St. Joseph’s recorded their first victory in the Carlow Senior League Div 4 with a 4-1 win over Vale Wanderers in Leighlinbridge on Sunday last. The Tinryland outfit were always in control and led 2-0 at the interval courtesy of goals from Padraig Delaney and Colm Doran. Further strikes from Doran and Niall Shannon sealed the win in the second half. Best for St. Joseph’s were John Paul Moore, David O’Neill, John Farrell, Shane Delaney and Colm Doran. This team has already drawn 2-2 away to Derry Rovers and were beaten 2-1 by Nurney Villa last week.
