Tinryland bow out of Carlow S.F.C. in Extra time
After gaining an equalising point after 8 minutes of stoppage time Tinryland senior footballers bowed out of the championship in extra time failing to score at all during that period and conceding 2-4 without reply. It was a disappointing end to a stop start year that never reached the heights of 2011 when Tinryland reached the County Final.

After conceding an early point, Paul Broderick opened the Tinryland account after four minutes when he pointed following good work by Cormac Walshe who then doubled the tally in the 5th minute and slotted over a free to leave the scoreboard reading 3 points to 1 for Tinryland after 10 minutes. After 14 minutes O'Hanrahan's converted a penalty to lead by the minimum once again. A great Paul Broderick point after 16 minutes was cancelled out by another Blues free before a point and goal saw the Carlow side further ahead. After Paul Broderick had scored another point in the 28th minute Keith Jackson scored a gem of a goal on the stroke of half time to leave the interval score at 2-4 to 1-6 in favour of O Hanrahans.

After an early exchange of points, Tinryland got a great let off when Trevor O Reilly saved a certain goal. Further score in the second period came from Broderick and Evan Doyle to level matters. One minute later Tinryland regained the lead with a Broderick beauty as the game entered stoppage time. The Blues however never gave up and a great levelling point left the scoreboard reading 2-8 to 1-11 before another Blues point was replied to in the 38th minute when Paul Broderick grabbed the equaliser to send the game into extra time after Padraig Townsend was fouled. What followed will surely haunt Tinryland players and supporters for many days as the Blues completely dominated the extra time period scoring 2-2 without reply in the first 10 minute period and adding a further 2 points without reply in the 2nd half of extra time. As the dejected Tinryland players trooped off to the dressing rooms Tinryland coach Martin Murphy thanked the players for their efforts during his 3 years in charge and the only thing that can be done now is to look forward to 2013 when hopefully Tinryland can end the 32 year barren spell in search of the Carlow senior football championship.
