Tinryland Lose in Minor Final
Tinryland lost out by 0-13 to 1-5 to close neighbours Palatine in the
Carlow Minor Football Final in Dr. Cullen Park on Sunday last.
Palatine deserved to win the game on the balance of play but Tinryland
were in contention until the closing minutes and had chances to win the

Tinryland then missed 2 easy chances in the opening minutes of the restart
but Palatine went on to lead by 0-9 to 1-3 before 2 points from Robbie
Power reduced to gap to the bare minimum with 7 mins remaining with Owen
Maddock missing a good chance to put Tinryland ahead.
This proved to be the end of Tinryland's challenge with Palatine amassing
4 further points to win with 5 points to spare.
Best for Tinryland were Kevin Barrett at full back ably assisted by Mikey
Byrne at Centre Back with Michael Mullen at midfield and Robbie Power at
Centre Forward also impressing.
This was Tinryland's 6th time to lose out at the final stage since 1999
but with a large number of the present team underage for next year, hopes
are high for an elusive County Title.
The Cumann na mBunscol County Finals were held in Tinryland over the
weekend and the local club received a lot of praise for their organisation
with huge crowds attending the matches.
At the County Coisde na Nog Presentation Night, Tinryland received awards
for winning the County Under 14 A Title and for reaching the Under 12
Final as runners up.
