New Manager of Tinryland Senior Team.

Cork City native Ger Bickerstaffe was this week confirmed as the new manager of the Tinryland senior football team. The G.P.T. (Carlow) accounts manager has coached both gaelic and soccer teams at the highest level and is currently on the coaching
staff at Carlow Institute of Technology.

Based in Carlow since 1982 Ger played gaelic football with Nemo Rangers and hurling with St. Finbarrs working under coaches of the calibre of Billy Morgan and Gerald McCarthy. He sees the Tinryland job as a challenge but is optimistic about the future because of the current wealth of underage talent available to the club.
Tinryland has not won a Carlow S.F.C. since 1981 but since the turn of the century has won two U21 championships and an Intermediate title and has contested 5 Co.minor (A) finals. In addition the juvenile section of the club has had huge success winning (A) championships in all grades together with 2 All Ireland feile titles.
Tinryland maintained their senior status for 2008 when defeating Grange in the recent Carlow Senior football (B) final and the team will also play in division 1 of the Carlow SFL next season. The new manager will shortly meet with Tinryland players and officials to outline his plans for the coming year.

Tyrone footballer to visit Tinryland GAA Club

Tyrone footballer Eoin Mulligan will be the guest of honour at next Fridays annual presentation evening for Tinryland juvenile G.F.C. The two times All Ireland medal winner and 2005 All Star will present medals to Tinryland teams who were successful in Co. championships and other tournaments during 2007. The full forward who is
instantly recogniseable by his bleached blonde hair is sure to be a big hit with young players from the club who once again made 2007 a memorable year. During the past year Tinryland won the Carlow U12 (A) and (B) titles together with the Maurice Nolan (B) title and many other tournaments. In addition Tinryland contributed 20 players to county teams during the year. Next Fridays presentation ceremony will
commence at 7 p.m.
