Mick O’Dwyer to attend Tinryland GFC dinner dance
LEGENDARY GAA football manager Mick O’Dwyer will be the guest of honour at the Tinryland GFC dinner dance to be held in the Seven Oaks hotel on this coming Friday, February 9 at 8.30pm.
Championship and league medals will be presented to the U-21 and senior football League Division 3 teams by the Kerry maestro who is the current Wicklow manager. Tickets for the dinner dance can be purchased up to 6 pm on tomorrow, Thursday, February 8 when numbers will have to be finalised with the hotel.
The music at next Friday’s function will be provided by Penny Lane. Players who are receiving medals can purchase their tickets at a reduced rate of •15 while the normal cost of a ticket is •25.
Team mentors for the coming season have been finalised. Paul Kenny will once again be the senior team coach assisted by Martin Doyle, Paddy Townsend, John Murphy and Eamonn Byrne. The U-21 team will be looked after by Martin Doyle, John Doyle and Liam Foster while Joe Broderick, Paddy Delaney and Tom Delaney will be in charge of the junior team. Minor and junior (B) selectors still have to be finalised. Training for senior, U-21 and junior players has recommenced and will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Tinryland GFC will hold a five man pool tournament commencing in mid February. The entry fee for this event is •100 per team with a 1st prize of •1000. The February Tinryland GFC supporters club draw will take place on this coming Saturday, February 10 at 9 30 p.m. The top prize again will be 1000. Well done to Robert O’Neill and all concerned on the highly successful X factor competition which was held over 2 weeks. This was one of the most enjoyable events ever staged in the club and helped raise much needed funds for the Tinryland variety group. The competition was won by Patricia Moore.
LADIES FOOTBALL CLUB AGM: Bennekerry/Tinryland Ladies Football Club held their AGM on Tuesday in Tinryland GAA Centre. Chairperson Bernie Whelan spoke highly on another great year for the club as they won the County U-12, U-14 and A Championships and were runners up in the Minor A and 7 and 11-a-side competitions. She thanked all the trainers and committee for all their hard work during the year and wished them all the best on the field for 2007. The club would also like to thank Tinryland GFC for the use of their facilities during the year. The following officers were elected: Chairperson- Bernie Whelan, Vice-Chairperson- Frankie Kelly, Secretary- Pat McArdle, Assistant Secretary- Madeline Doyle, Treasurer- Pauline Cleary, Registrar- Lily O’Regan, PRO-Anne Lyons, Development Officer-Anthony Curran, Gaelic Officer-Mazie Kelly, Youth Officer- Martina Lowry, Committee- Natasha Lyons, Fran Mullins, Angela Curran, Peenie Whelan, Martin Doyle, Sean Lowry and Tommy Lyons.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday February 13th at 9 pm in Tinryland GAA Club. The presentation medals night will be held on Saturday, March 3 in the clubhouse between 8 pm and 11 pm. All are welcome to attend.
