Tinryland U14 Footballers reach Co. (A) Final for 3rd successive year
Tinryland U14 footballers qualified for the Co. U14 (A) final against O’Hanrahans when they accounted for Muinebheag in a very exciting semi final at Dr. Cullen Park on Wednesday last. For much of last Wednesdays match Tinryland enjoyed the lions share of the play but were unable to break down a very strong Muinebheag defence who despite playing against the wind in the first half were only two points in arrears at half time.
With the wind against them in the second half Tinryland found it difficult to score and the significant score of the match came with 10 minutes remaining when James Murphy capped a great hours work by crashing home the only goal of the game. Despite intense Muinebheag pressure Tinryland’s defence held out and the boys in blue and white qualified for the Co. Final in three week’s time against O’Hanrahans who looked very good in their defeat of Eire Og in the other semi final.
Tinryland U12 footballers were in action in the Co. (A) final on last Tuesday evening when they played Eire Og in Kildavin.
Tinryland U16 footballers have also reached the Co. (A) semi final and they will be in action against Eire Og on Friday 18th August. The U16s will play Portlaoise in a challenge game in Tinryland on this Wednesday evening at 7 30 p.m.
Tinryland G.F.C. Supporters club
The August supporter’s club draw took place on Saturday last with the main prize going to the Doran family.
Entertainment on the night was provided by local award winning musician Joe Cleere who entertained the small attendance with his vast array of easy listening songs. Joe who is in the middle of recording another album at his Tinryland studio went down very well as he performed songs from the likes of Bob Marley, The Eagles, Coldplay, U2 and Jack Johnson plus original numbers from his own creation.
The next supporters club draw will take place in early September.
