Tinryland Juniors make a winning start to season
Tinryland junior (A) squad made a winning start to the season with a very comfortable win over St. Andrews at McGrath Park on Sunday. A well-balanced team of youth and experience was always in control in this game after wing forward Willie Townsend had opened the Tinryland scoring after 5 minutes. By half time Tinryland had added a further eight points to their total with some wonderful approach work and excellent scores from Padraig Delaney (2), John Doyle (4), P.J. Murphy and Paul Kenny. The second half began on a high note with Willie Farrell and John Doyle both finding the net inside 5 minutes of the restart and the game was over as a contest when sub Glen Doyle found the St. Andrews net with 5 minutes remaining. Outstanding for Tinryland were defenders Chris Cleary, Mick Moore, Joe Nolan and P.J. Murphy together with midfielder Gary Morrissey and forwards Willie Townsend, Paul Kenny, John Doyle who scored 1-6 and subs Padraig Townsend and Ian Scully. Final score 3-14 to 0-4.
Next game against Kildavin-Clonegal on Wednesday next at home.

Another local winner of Supporters club draw.
There was another local winner in the 2nd Tinryland G.A.A. supporter’s club monthly draw. Edmund Hayden of Ballinacarrig a former player with the club was the lucky name pulled out of the drum when the draw was made on Saturday last. Edmund wins the €1000 prize, which will be awarded each month until November with the December draw offering a prize of €5000.
A limited number of memberships are still available for the next draw which will take place on Saturday 6th May.
