Tinryland U21 Footballers qualify for Co. Semi Final
Tinryland U21 Footballers easily overcame St. Patrick’s in the opening round of this year’s championship in very wet conditions at Ballon on Sunday last. A feature of this game was the return to the Tinryland colours by Paul Broderick who suffered a serious injury at the start of last season. Paul was magnificent on Sunday last scoring 1-6 of Tinryland’s 3-11 total. The result was never in doubt from an early stage as Tinryland raced into a five point lead by the 15th minute with scores from Paul Broderick (3), Colm Doran and Glen Doyle. Tinryland’s opening goal came in the 20th minute when Broderick crashed home a 20 metre shot to the Tullow net and from then to the finish it was all one way traffic as Tinryland totally outplayed the opposition who were limited to two points during the hour in the 16th and 35th minutes. Tinryland’s two other goals were scored by Glen Doyle after 43 minutes and by Colm Doran with 9 minutes remaining. Outstanding for Tinryland who will face Rathvilly in the semi final at Easter were defenders Peter and Mark Doran, Captain Shane O’Neill, midfielders Evan Doyle and Keith Jackson together with forwards Paul Broderick, Glen Doyle, Colm Doran, and Padraig Delaney.
