Major progress on field development at Tinryland G.F.C.
The recent fine weather has resulted in major progress on the new field development at Tinryland G.F.C. What was once rough terrain has now been transformed into a wonderful playing surface that will be on par with any top football pitch in the country.
The final stages will involve the laying of a special sand carpet finish before seeding will take place. Plans are at an advanced stage to progress with floodlighting the new pitch up to top European standards. This will facilitate the playing of high quality games in the evenings during the autumn and winter months.
Tinryland G,F.C. was recently awarded lottery funding of €70,000 in respect of the floodlighting project.
Work on the site to date has been carried out by local civil engineering contractor George Deane and the quality of the work has attracted many favourable comments.
It is expected that the new facility will be in use by the spring of 2005.
Progress on the negotiations with the N.R.A. and Kildare Co. Council has been very slow. The officials of Tinryland G.F.C. are still awaiting the report of the inspector from the Bord Pleanala oral hearing which took place last February
