Recent Athletics Success
There have been a number of excellent performances by Tinryland Athletes in the National Masters Finals in recent weeks. In the National Masters Cross Country Championships in Derry, Tommy Payne ran an outstanding race to win the M55 section having placed 17th overall while Pat Byrne was 3rd in the M40 section having placed 7th overall in a highly competitive field of 150 athletes. In the National Masters Indoor Championships in Athlone, Tommy Payne took another National title with a win in the M55 3000m in 9 mins 40 with Pat Byrne an excellent 2nd in the M40 1500m in 4 mins 22 while Larry Murphy was 5th in the M45 section in a seasons best of 4 mins 25. Byrne went also won another silver medal in the M40 3000m in 9 mins 01 while John Dillon was a creditable 6th in the M35 3000m. In addition Seamus Connolly was 2nd in the M60 3000m walk to complete a very successful weekend medal haul of 1 Gold and 3 Silver Medals for the Tinryland Club.
Carlow Novice Championships
The Carlow Novice Cross Country Championships with events for Ladies 3km at 12 pm, Men 5km at 12.30 pm and a Fit for Life 3km at 1 pm will be held in Tinryland on Sunday next, February 24th. There will be 4 to score in the team event for the Novice races. All are welcome to attend.
