Medal Haul for Tinryland Runners in International Cross Country

Congratulations are extended to the Tinryland athletes who produced excellent
performances when representing Ireland in the Home Internationals Masters Cross Country
in Belfast last weekend with all 5 competing athletes winning either individual or team medals. Star of the day was Tommy Payne who was involved in an excellent race at the front of a very competitive M50 field and was unlucky to finish 3rd behind eventual winner Graham Saker of England ahead of former Senior International Deon Mcneilly of Northern Ireland in 2nd position. Tommy did however lead the Irish team of Mick Byrne, Tommy Hughes and Pat O'Grady to overall victory in the team section. Also running well was Pat Byrne in 7th in the M35 section and was also part of the winning Irish team which also consisted of Ciaran Doherty, Peter O'Sullivan and Paul Fleming. Eddie Walsh was a creditable 11th in the M55 section and was part of the Irish team which won bronze medals while JJ Murphy also produced a solid performance to place 7th in the M60 section with the Irish team finishing 2nd in the overall team event. Meanwhile Denis Shannon was 10th in his first year in the M65 section and was second Irish scorer on the bronze medal winning team.

Congratulations are extended to Tinryland AC Athlete Eddie Walsh on a very creditable 11th place finish in the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International in Belfast recently. Running in the M55 section, Eddie was part of the Irish team that won bronze medals. This is Eddies 5th time to represent Ireland in these championships having previously competed in Scotland and Belfast on two occasions and also in Wales. He has also been part of two previous Irish teams that have been placed 3rd in the team event in Belfast and Wales.
