There were some excellent achievements by Tinryland based athletes in the recent ISAA
Irish Schools Athletics Finals in Tullamore recently. The most notable displays came from
the hugely talented Marcus Lawler, Ballycrogue who won a magnificent double in the
Intermediate Boys 100m and 200m sprints in times of 11.17 and 22.10 respectively and will
now compete in the European Youth Olympics in France and World Youth Games in Turkey over
the next month. Tinryland AC member Lauren Dwyer was also in fine form placing 2nd in the
75m Junior Girls Hurdles while Grace Lawler took bronze in the Girls 100m. Local athletes
were also prominent on several of the relay teams with Conor O'Brien (Brownshill), Cian
Lawlor (Tinryland), Adam Murphy (Linkardstown) and Marcus Lawler (Ballycrogue) all taking
bronze medals as part of the Carlow CBS team in the Intermediate Relay while Gavin
Curran, Tinryland was part of the Pres. Carlow team that were 4th in the event. Ashleigh
Farrell, Garryhundon was also a medal winner on the day when she was one of the St. Leo's
