Autumn League

There was a larger turnout of 60 athletes and walkers for the 2nd
stage of the Tinryland AC Autumn Fun League over 5km sponsored by
Jason Farrell Sports on Wednesday last. There were a number of new entries on the night
for the event which followed a 5km course which started at the Tinryland Parish Fields
and went to a midway point in Ballybar before a return
run to the start line.

Having had to withstand a number of earlier challengers, Tinryland AC
Star Man Pat Byrne again won another stage by breaking away by the
halfway mark and going on to post a time of 15 mins 22, 11 seconds
ahead of runner up Brian Kirwan of LOT. Tommy McElwaine of SBR
finished in 3th position in 16 mins 12, 10 seconds ahead of 4th placed
Mick Kehoe of the host club with both men now battling for 3rd overall
on the final night. The ageless Tommy Payne was 5th home in 16 mins
40 with Myles Gibbons of An Post 6th in 16 mins 59.
Danny Lawlor of LOT was the again the first junior in a time of 17 mins 07.

In the Ladies section, Teresa Agar of St.Abban's consolidated her lead
in this years's league by placing 1st in 19 mins 18, edging out the
promising Mary Ann O'Sullivan who was 2nd some 3 seconds further back
with Louise Nolan 3rd in 20 mins 09.

1st- Pat Byrne (Tinryland) 15.22, 2nd- Brian Kirwan (LOT) 15.33, 3rd-
Tommy McElwaine (SBR) 16.12 4th- Mick Kehoe (Tinryland) 16.22 5th-
Tommy Payne (Tinryland) 16.40 6th- Myles Gibbons (An Post) 16.59


1st- Teresa Agar (St. Abban's) 19.18 2nd- Mary Ann O'Sullivan
(Tinryland) 19.21 3rd- Louise Nolan (Greenbank) 20.09.

Overall- Men- 1st- Byrne 2 pts 2nd Kirwan 4 pts 3rd- Kehoe and
McElwaine 7 pts each. Women 1st- Agar 2pts 2nd- Nolan 5 pts 3rd- Brid
Long (LOT) and Rose Kennedy (Gowran) 7 pts.

The Tinryland AC Autumn Fun Road League will finish with the final
stage over 2 miles on Friday next, October 1st at 7 pm. After the
final stage there will be prizegiving and refreshments in Rathcrogue
Centre with prizes to all those who complete 3 stages. Certificates
with times will be given to all finishers. All courses are accurately
measured with league with results posted on the club website after
