Dwayne Wins Leinster Novice Title
Tinryland Athlete Dwayne Farrell produced one of his greatest runs as a club member with a fantastic victory in the Leinster Novice Road Race in Gowran on Monday last.
Dwayne, who was making a return to competitive action following a recent layoff due to injury was always in control of the 4 mile event and broke away from the field to finish in
a very good time of 19 mins 36 secs to win his first provincial title at this level. Runner up was Paul McGovern of Rathfarnham in 19 mins 49 with third place finisher
Eamonn Maher of Kilkenny City Harriers 3 seconds further back. Dwayne was not the only local winner on the day with clubmate Pat Byrne winning the over 35 section with another fine
performance ahead of the fancied Paul Fleming of Rathfarnham with Catch Grennan of Tullamore taking the bronze medal. Byrne also had an impressive display in the recent Great Ireland 10km
event and along with the in-form Farrell will aim to concentrate on the forthcoming road and track season. Eddie Walsh also had a good run to finish 6th in what was a very competitive over 50
section in the Leinster Masters Road Championships.
