Four County League
Tinryland took a narrow lead in the A team section after the opening stage of the St. Abban's Four County League in Ballon on Sunday last. In the absence of Pat Byrne who was on International Armed Forces duties, Tommy Payne led the charge home with a 4th place finish which was just ahead of Dwayne Farrell in 5th. Eddie Walsh had another fine run to finish 15th and with JJ Murphy 16th and PJ Byrne 22nd, Tinryland took a 5 point lead ahead of Portlaoise and SBR in the team section. Also finishing for the club on the day were Billy Abbey 57th and Kevin Cuddy 58th.
Tinryland also lead in the Veterans category.The race was won by Colm Burke of St Abbans ahead of Tony Reilly Portlaoise in 2nd and Tommy McElwaine SBR in 3rd position.
In the womens section Tina Doyle finished 26th with Ann Brennan in 31st position.
The next stage will be held on Sunday March 30th in Ferns Co. Wexford.
