Athletes lose out in Four County League once again
TINRYLAND men’s A team once again lost out to Sliabh Buí Rovers (Ferns) after the 3rd leg of the St. Abban’s league which was held in Gowran on Sunday.
Pat Byrne had an excellent run to finish 1st ahead of local favourite Tommy Evans with Colm Burke in 3rd position. Tommy Payne was 6th on the day with Peter Murphy and Eddie Walsh completing the scoring quartet. Other Tinryland athletes to run on the day were JJ Murphy, Sean Duggan, Billy Abbey and Kevin Cuddy.
In the Ladies race, Deirdre Doyle finished in 5th place and now lies 3rd in the overall standings while both Tina Doyle and Ann Brennan had fine races on the day.
The 4th and final stage will take place in Tolerton, Co. Laois on Friday, April 20.
ATHLETICS: Congratulations are due to Mary Ann O’Sullivan who had an outstanding run to finish as the first Irish junior athlete home in the Schools International Cross Country in DCU recently.
In the Dunboyne Road Race on Sunday last, Pat Byrne finished 4th in a time of 19 mins 55 for the 4 mile circuit while Dwayne Farrell also had a good run to finish 9th.
