Draughts Team Advance to Leinster Final
Bennekerry/Tinryland Under 10 Draughts Team advanced to the Leinster Finals of the Community Games Competition courtesy of a fine win over Kilrush/Askamore of Wexford on a scoreline of 15-5. The team have now reached the Lenister finals which take place on 7th April in Longford where it has been 16 years since the area have reached this stage in the competition.
The team is Back L-R Marc Dillion, Thomas Malone, Sophia Walsh, James Cranny, John Byrne Front L-R Sean Breen Padraic Kelly .
Great credit must also go to their trainers Mairead and Pat Breen of Bennekerry.
On Monday evening the Under 14 Draughts team played against Bannow/Ballymitty from Wexford. After what was a very tense game it resulted in a draw after 2 rounds played and the teams had to play one more game each but unfortunately the Carlow team were pipped at the post by Bannow/Ballymitty with the score line 16/14. It proved to be an outstanding game and well done to the team of Cillian Duff, Conal O'Mahony,Danann Burke, Finbarr Kavanagh, Ciaran O' Hagan,Roisin O'Neill and Cathal O'Neill. Credit is due to trainer Mary Hourihane for her work with the team.
The area had two gold medal winners in gymnastics Rhianna Leydon U/9 Girls and Alex McNeill U/15 Girls. Both competitors will now represent Carlow in the Leinster Finals in May.
The U13 Boys and Girls played last Sunday in Old Leighlin
The U13 Girls played against Slaney Valley where they were beaten by 6 points but they displayed great skills and team work by all team members. The team members were Katie Hickey, Sinead Hayden, Robin Kennedy,Caitlin Kelly, Niamh Crowley, Chloe Broderick,Sandy Sheehy, Kayley O'Reilly and Holly McMahon. The trainers were Eddie Corcoran and Stephanie O'Brien.
The U13 Boys played St Lazarians where they where beaten by 9 points. The team was Cillian Duff, Andrew Keogh,Finbarr Kavanagh,Paul Dermondy, Conal O'Mahony, and Adam Dunne. The trainers were Stephanie O'Brien and Eddie Corcoran. Well done to those who took part on the day.
The following is the timetable for Easter Ceremonies in Tinryland Church:
Holy Thursday - Mass of the Lord's Supper at 6.30pm
Good Friday - Stations of the Cross at 5pm
Easter Vigil - 9pm
Easter Sunday- 10am
The Boys U/13 and Girls U13 Futsal was played last Sunday in Presentation College where Bennekerry/Tinryland were represented in both competitions.
The Bennekerry/Tinryland Girls U13 team got through to the final where unfortunately they were beaten by Rathvilly having played a great game. The team was Aoife O'Toole, Katie Hickey, Robin Kennedy, Sinead Hayden, Caitlin O'Reilly, Sandy Sheehy, Kaitlin Kelly and Niamh Crowley.
Also the Boys U13 displayed great talent and team work the team were Adam Dunne,Finbarr Kavanagh, Evan McGuire, Sean O'Rourke,Cillian Duff, Maurice Lawlor and Conal O'Mahony.
Well done to all who took part and represented the Area 11 very well and thank you to all who helped out on the day
The Trees Montessori,Ballinacarrig, Wexford Road are now taking enrolments for September 2013,ECCE(Free preschool year) places and part-time places available. Afterschool from Tinryland National School starting from September 2013.

Rose of Tralee Night
Bennekerry Senior Citizens Committee are holding its 3rd Rose of Tralee selection night in Palatine Clubhouse Sat. 23rd March. We are looking for a group of enthusiastic young ladies to compete for the title & go forward to represent Bennekerry in the Carlow Rose of Tralee final in Mount Wolseley Hotel Sunday May 5th. The competitors must be between 18 & 27 and of Irish descent. We will be approaching local business for sponsorship. To sponsor a Rose and have her represent your business costs €100. This event has been the main stay of our fundraising activities over the past few years and we look forward to your support. The event will be presented by Brendan Hennessy of KCLR fame.
