Large Turnout for St Stephen's Day Run

Despite the difficult conditions, there was a fantastic turnout of 100 runners, joggers and walkers at the Annual Tinryland AC Turkey Trot on St Stephens Day in aid of the Tinryland Tidy Towns Committee. Pat Byrne recorded the fastest time on the day of 21 mins 34 seconds while Brian O'Gorman correctly predicted his time to within a second of 29 minutes and as a result was the individual winner of the Turkey Trot. There was a prizegiving ceremony afterwards in the local school where it was also announced that the event had helped raise over €700 for the local committee. The Tinryland Tidy Towns group would like to thank all who gave such generous donations on the day.

of Tinryland Park and Jim Deane's detailed piece on the former Tinney Park House.
This years production also includes Cormac Breathnach's participation in the President's
"Being Young and Irish" initiative to Brendan Hayden's interview for the GAA Oral History Project.

Sport is well catered for and there are comprehensive reviews and
photos of Tinrylands G.A.A. season, St. Joseph's AFC, Ladies Football and the 33rd Rockford Roof
Tile road race which was again very successful this year. Tinryland N.S, I.C.A. and Women's

Tinryland Park Now Open to Public

After over a year’s hard work and planning the new sporting facilities and children’s playground, Tinryland Park has recently opened. Tinryland Park is the only Soccer, Tennis, Children’s playground and public park facility in the area. The new facilities include one professional-style, flood-lit pitch for soccer, featuring an astro turf surface. Beside the soccer pitch is a professional standard flood-lit hard-surface tennis court, a children’s playground catering for 2-12 year olds and a meandering walk. The committee want to provide visitors to our new park with a safe, clean, and friendly atmosphere to take a stroll, play with children, have a picnic and enjoy a fast paced game of football or a brisk game of tennis.
Even though the gates are open the work continues…One of the first priorities for the Directors is to find an army of volunteers to help run the facilities, if you are interested in event management, coaching, fundraising, general ground maintenance or would simply like to volunteer your time to Tinryland Park please do not hesitate to contact one of the Directors. The committe are also due to start work on creating beautifully landscaped grounds, with the kind assistance of Deirdre Pender from Talamh Landscaping. It is hoped to have more details soon and will put a call out to all eager green thumbs to come along and help out.

The Directors of Tinryland Park have developed a pricing structure for the new facilities and is as follows –

Soccer Pitch- 45 minutes- €35 (Day Time) and €45 (Night Time).

Tennis- 1.5 hours €2 per person (Day) €4 per person (Night).

To find the Tinryland Park, turn right at the second exit to Tinryland, just before the motorway entrance, travel along that road and turn left, as you travel up this road you will see the park on your right hand side. The Park is open for business;operating hours will be from 10 am – 10 pm seven days a week, so for those wanting to book a game of tennis or a match of football then call the dedicated booking number 085 810 2031.
