Community Scheme

Two new community workers have recently been appointed to the Tinryland area under the
new Tus Employment scheme. They are James Moore Jun. of St. Joseph's Tce, and David
Farrell of Garryhundon. They have many projects lined up - Clearing the green area in
the village centre, cleaning the granite wall, painting and other necessary tasks. They
will be a great help to the work of the volunteers in the Tidy Towns group. We welcome
their expertise and we are delighted to avail of their services for the betterment of the
village.

Annual Cheerios Childline Breakfast*

Suantrai Montessori school, Tinryland recently hosted their annual Cheerios Childline
Breakfast, and raised 100 euro for the most deserving cause.
Many thanks to the parents and grandparents who attended, along with some
parents and children from Tinryland NS, who all gave so generously.
Additional thanks to Jim and Emma Deane, from Deanes Shop Tinryland, who
provided some breakfast provisions on the morning, Paul Walshe, of Walshes
Juice who provided a wide range of their delicious juices and smoothies,
Edel Gleeson (Tinryland) of Robert Roberts, who provided some beautiful
coffee, and James Rath of Raths Supermarket, Carlow who gave some
fresh scones.

Suantrai Montessori School had some very special visitors last week, in the
form of Karen and Ted Fitzgerald, Woolongon, Sydney. Karen and Ted are more
fondly known as 'Nanny and Pa" to Pre schooler Macdara Deane, Tinryland.
They very kindly conducted "circle time" for the morning, and led some very
entertaining discussions on the wild animals of Australia and educated both
children and staff on the perils of killer sharks in the seas surrounding
the vast country. After the chat the children coloured pictures of native
Australian animals, and ate animal choclate bars as a treat from our
Australian visitors.
All the children had a fabulous morning, and sincere thanks to Nanny and Pa
Fitzgerald for their enthusiam and kindness. Karen and Ted have since
returned to Australia and all at Suantrai Montessori School hope they had
a safe and pleasant journey.
