Farewell to Parish Priest

A
large crowd of parishioners, family members, local clergy and friends came together in
Tinryland G.F.C on Friday last to bid farewell to Fr John McEvoy P.P on his transfer to
Paulstown/ Goresbridge. Mr Eamonn Byrne was a very capable M.C on the night. Many
accolades were paid to Fr. McEvoy on his 9 years ministry in the parish by
representatives from Parish Council, I.C.A, B.O.M of Tinryland N.S, St Joseph's
Society/Choir and many others. He was thanked for his constant availability and
willingness to help his parishioners always. He was also commended on the structural
work done in the village, and the beautiful refurbishment of the Church. Parish Council
secretary Mrs Pauline Cleary presented him with an I- Pad and a cheque. A superb supper
was provided on the night by many local volunteers. The people were entertained by local
talent which rounded off a very enjoyable evening. A bouquet was presented to his
faithful housekeeper Bridie. He is wished every health and success in his new ministry.

Bag Packing

Tinryland Juvenile football club wish to thank all parents and mentors
for the huge effort in bag packing in Tesco's last weekend. This is
our major fundraiser for the year and was a great success. Special
thanks to Tom Lawlor for his organising of the event.

Trip to Dublin

Knit & Stitch Show day trip to RDS. Leighlin Craft Club will run a
bus to this event on Saturday 12th November. Bus departs Bagenalstown
fire station 8.45am, Leighlinbridge church car park 9am and Askea
church car park 9.20am This is a very popular day trip and the bus

Cookery Demonstration

Carlow Federation are hosting a Monster Cookery Demonstration in the
Lord Bagenal on Tuesday 11th October at 7.30 p.m. Chef Edward Hayden
will be in charge of the cooking. Tickets are 15 euro which
included the raffle. Everyone welcome to come along.

Positive Ageing Week

'Sing Together for Health & Happiness'. Celebrate Positive Ageing Week
by coming along to this free, fun & friendly sing-a-long. Cathedral
Parish Centre, Friday 30th September at 2pm. Tea/coffee served. Phone
