Farewell to Priest

Outgoing Parish Priest Fr. John PP McEvoy made a heartfelt farewell
speech to parishioners in Tinryland last weekend prior to his new
appointment as PP of Paulstown and Goresbridge. In his speech, Fr.
McEvoy spoke of the happy years he spent in the parish and his
gratitude to God for the 9 years he spent in the Parish, which was his
first real introduction to parish life, having spent the previous 22
years mostly involved in educational matters in St.Patrick's College,
Carlow. The outgoing priest also spoke of being honoured to work with
a myriad of very committed people in the parish from parish council
members, the newsletter group, the members of the various groups and
societies in the parish and all those involved in the local school and
the lotto promoters. Fr. McEvoy also recounted his good experience on
the committee of the Tidy Towns committee and the work in getting the
old school regenerated and associate works on the Church and Ball
Alley site. In his farewell speech, the priest praised all the
Parochial team from ministers of Holy Communion, readers, servers,
choir, organist and sacristan. He concluded by speaking of his hopes
that the new Sunday morning Mass would bring greater vibrancy to the
parish and encouraged parishioners to support the two priests who will
be serving Tinryland Parish from Sunday September 4th onwards. Fr.
McEvoy commences his new appointment in Paulstown and Goresbridge this
week and is wished all the very best in his new position.
