Cemetery Mass

The annual cemetery mass will take place on Friday July 8th @ 8pm.
Considerable work has been done on St. Joseph's church recently. This
work has been badly needed, and should not recur for many years.
Donations for this project would be most welcome.

School News

Football tournament-

The final of Tinryland N.S. gaelic football tournament
took place last Thursday, 22nd June. The guest of honour, former principal,
Mr. Denis Shannon presented the winning captain, Jessica Corcoran. Jessica's
team representing Carlow while the runners up, captained by Mark Hickey
represented Kerry. Young player of the tournament was Cormac O'Brien and
player of the tournament was Conor Ryan.

Irish table quiz- Doireann Walshe, Ciara Nolan, Padraig Webb and Joseph
Byrne finished 3rd in the Glor na nGael ,Trath na gCeist in the Gaelscoil
last Wednesday, 15th June. Comhghairdeas libh!

Heineken cup trophy visits school- Thanks to Carlow Rugby Club and the
Leinster Rugby Union, the Heinekin Cup Trophy paid a visit to our school
recently.

Fairtrade coffee morning- We had a fair trade coffee morning in school on
Thursday, 23rd May to raise awareness about the fair trade organisation and
its associated products. All was organised by Ms Anna Quirke-Bolt and 6th
class pupils.

Happy holidays-We wish all our pupils and their families a very safe and
happy summer!


Murphy wins Eigse race

Congratulations are extended to Larry Murphy Tinryland A.C who was a
fine winner of the Hopper McGrath Eigse masters mile recently. The
Ardattin native had a great battle with runner-up Tommy Payne, with
Ken Archbold of the host club L.O.T third. There were also fine runs
from Eddie Walshe, P.J Blanche and John Joe Murphy. It was a well
organised event.

There were some fine performances from Tinryland athletes at the Leinster Juvenile Track
and Field Championships in Tullamore on June 18th and 19th last.

Deana Kealy competed the Girls U12 High Jump and came away with a bronze medal position
while also securing a 4th place finish in the U12 Long Jump. Both results qualify her for
the National finals which will take place over the coming weeks. Her older sister Lauryn
had an excellent weekend aswell finishing in 2nd position over the 800m and took home a
bronze medal in the 1500m. She too, will compete in the upcoming all Ireland finals.

Recent Ordination

Congratulations to Alex Purser of Moyle who was ordained recently in
Old Leighlin. Alex is son of Richard and Sarah Purser. He has been
appointed to the Abbeleyix and Killermogh group of parishes

Playball Summer Camps

Playball Summer Camps are back in Carlow this July for boys and girls from
aged 4-13...Multi-Sports ( Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Baseball, Gaelic
Football, Rugby, Cricket, Golf, Netball and Volleyball), Adventure Games,
Athletic Events, Mini- Matches, Obstacle course, Treasure Hunt, Water games,
Art & Drama, Zorbing and much more.Make new friends, Have Fun in a
non-competitive environment and learn new life and sports skills.

Childrens Summer Workshop

VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art & The GB Shaw Theatre are delighted
to present a children?s summer workshop from July 18th to 22nd for
7-12 year old performers. The workshop will immerse the children in a
world of drama, music, dance, singing, comedy and theatre design.
This 5 day workshop will run for 5 hours daily from 10am-3pm with 45
minutes for lunch. It is designed for a maximum of 22 students. After
five days of workshops and rehearsals, the workshop will culminate in
a showcase of the drama, dance, singing and music pieces the young
performers have developed for an invited audience of family and
friends. ?95 per child, booking on 059-917 2400.
