ICA Guild Celebrates 100th Anniversary

On Wednesday 3rd March, Tinryland ICA celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the ICA, with an ecumenical service followed by supper in Tinryland parish hall. Fr. John McEvoy, PP Tinryland and Canon Nancy Gillespie, Assistant Priest with the Carlow Group of parishes, jointly conducted the service. After the service, Fr. John and Canon Nancy blessed a plaque erected in the hall to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the local ICA guild in Tinryland. Among the other guests on the night were committee members from Tinryland GFC and Tinryland Tidy Towns as well as Councillor Jimmy Townsend, Carlow ICA Federation President Imelda Byrne and a large turnout of members and some former members from the local guild. In honour of the centenary of the ICA, Nuala Phelan, President of the Tinryland Guild, presented a trophy to Michael Murphy, Chairman of Tinryland GFC, to be used by the Juvenile section of the club. A very enjoyable supper was then had by all.


In the Draw of Wed 3 March the winning numbers were 3, 14, 28 & 29. 11 Match 3s won € 91 each from the parishes of Abbeyleix, Kildare, Askea, Stradbally and Mountmellick.
Best wishes in the next Draw on Wed 10 March, when the Jackpot is € 13,000. Thanks to all the promoters. Others are invited to be promoters.
In the week of St.Patrick's Day, the Lotto draw takes place one day earlier, ie on Tuesday 16 March. Tickets that week should be in by 8pm on Monday 15 March.

Table Quiz

Nicholas Byrne, son of Joe and Marianne, Staplestown is going to Africa as a volunteer teacher this summer. A Table Quiz will be held in Eire Og Clubhouse on Tuesday March 16th to raise funds. For more information contact 085-7807662.


Sympathy is extended to Mr.Tom Doolan, Ballincarrig on the death of his mother Bridget Doolan of Mortlestown, Cahir Co. Tipperary who died on Tuesday last. Requiem Mass took place
in St. Mary's Church, Cahir on Friday at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Scripture Sharing

The theme is "Model Your Life on the mystery of the Lord's Cross". The Tinryland Group continues in the Parish Hall at 8 pm on the Thursdays of Lent. All are welcome to attend.

Spring Summer Fashion Show

There will be a Spring Summer Fashion Show in aid of Tinryland National School and a proposed extension on Thursday March 25th 2010 commencing at 8.30 pm sharp in the Seven Oaks Hotel. Tickets are €20 with a door prize and raffle on the night. The compere will be Faith Amond. Tickets are currently selling very well for this event.


This group will meet on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 am to 11.30 am in the Parish Hall, Tinryland. For further information contact Patricia at 059-9146566.

CRISP Courses

Two Computers for Beginners courses starts in CRISP, Castle Hill on Tuesday March 16th at 10am and 7pm. This course is offered at a special rate for the month of March only. Contact Josie 086 3615271 to reserve a place.
