Pupils of Tinryland NS received a surprise and welcome visitor in the shape of the Heineken Cup which was on display in the school on Wednesday last. 5th and 6th class pupils were pictured with the trophy which was made available by Leinster Rugby on the day.
Bennekerry/Tinryland Girls Star on Schools Teams
Bennekerry/Tinryland Minor Player Deirdre o'Sullivan playing at corner forward captained St Leos to their 5th Leinster title in Vicarstown Laois on Friday last.
The club was also represented on the team by club members Aoife Byrne (Half Back), Amanda Kinsella (Corner forward) and Lauren Dwyer and Orlagh Moran who were introduced into the game.
St Leos won on a score line of 2-12 to St Marys Of Edenderry 1-4.
This is a great achievement for the school and also for the club who are strongly represented showing the standard and football ability of its members.
The commitee and mentors would like to wish the girls and the school the best of luck in the All Ireland semi-final.

Bennekerry/Tinryland performed very well in the Carlow Community Games Draughts Finals which were held in Hacketstown last weekend. The area reached two draughts finals
with the Under 10 team winning silver medals having lost their final to Hacketstown 6-14. The Under 14 team also managed to reach their decider but also lost to the host
team Hacketstown on a score of 3-17. The Under 12 team lost in the semi-finals to the eventual winners Hacketstown who claimed all three County titles in the finals.
The teams were Under 10: Conal O'Mahony, Ted Brophy, Michael Fawle, Finbarr Kavanagh, Danann Burke, Adam Dunne and Paul Dermody. Under 12: Aidan Sloyan, Jack Holmes, Cuan Burke, Roisin O'Neill
and Cathal O'Neill. Under 14: John Morrin, Niamh Fitzpatrick, Conor O'Doherty, John Nolan, Fionnan Burke, Sean Dermody and Brian O'Mahony.

In the Draw of Wed February 3rd, the winning numbers were 9,24, 26 and 27. There was no jackpot winner. Four Match 3's won €250 each.
Schools Table Quiz
The Tinryland NS Schools Quiz teams performed very well in the Carlow Credit Union Schools Table Quiz last week.
The Under 13 team were just 2 points behind the overall winners in a large group and won a tie break for 3rd position.
The team was Eamonn Murphy, Brendan Foley, Conor McGrath, Peter Hennessy and Jamie Noctor.
The Under 11 team was Kevin Murphy, Cian Maddock, Celine Cumiskey, Eoghan Hosey and Ciaran Doyle.
Spring Summer Fashion Show
There will be a Spring Summer Fashion Show in aid of Tinryland National School and a proposed extension on Thursday March 25th 2010 commencing at 8.30 pm sharp in the Seven Oaks Hotel. Tickets are €20 with a door prize and raffle on the night. The compere will be Faith Amond. Tickets are currently selling very well for this event.
THE PARENT, BABY AND TODDLER GROUP:
This group will meet on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 am to 11.30 am in the Parish Hall, Tinryland.
NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP will commence on Tuesday, 16 February, 2010 in St. Andrew’s Parish Church, Bagenalstown commencing with Mass at 7.30 pm. Speaker for 16 Feb Senator Ronan Mullen – Hope in times of doubt.

Cork to Carlow Cycle
The 32nd annual Cork to Carlow cycle will take place between June 11th and 13th this year. All proceeds will go towards the Carlow branch of the Irish Wheelchair association. For further information contact Jack at 086-8402081.
