Weekly News Roundup - Sunday 17 Jan 2010
Reaching Out Newsletter
The 2009 Reaching Out Yearbook is another very impressive publication with many contributors and 40 pages.
The book, edited by Maureen Byrne, highlights the 60th anniversary of ICA in the parish which was founded on Jan 13th 1949 along with
Fr. Eamonn Hayden's experiences in Zambia.
Liam Byrne has made very impressive contribution with two very interesting articles on both the recently retired Clem Delaney and
Kathleen Costello who shares her experiences of 80 years in the area along with raising a family of 15 children.
There is also a pictorial review of the year with events as diverse as the Tinryland GAA Fun Day, Senior Citizens, Garden Centre Opening and Corpus Christi
Procession all covered.
All of the sports, parish and school events in the area are featured in the newsletter along with old photographs while Jim Deane makes an excellent contribution
with his chronicle of the Tinryland men involved in the 1798 Rebellion.
Other articles include one on the Variety Group, Maureen Byrnes feature on the New Parish Hall and Maureen O'Connors piece on Ageing.
The book which costs €5 is available from Deanes Shop, Tinryland, Deanes Shop, Barrack St and at the church and is extremely good value for money
with many other interesting parts in the publication.
