Community Games Finals

The Carlow Community Games Athletics Finals will be held in Ardattin on the weekend of June 28th and 29th and training continues in the Parochial Fields on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 pm.

Senior Citizens Outing

The Tinryland Senior Citizens outing is planned for Wednesday 25th June to the National Stud, Japanese Gardens and St. Fiachra's Garden in Kildare Town. A bus will depart Tinryland Square at 10.30. Tours of the National Stud have been arranged for the group. On the way home there will be a stop off in Newbridge for an hour of shopping. We will arrive back to Carlow around 7.00pm where dinner will be provided for all. There will be a small fee collected on the bus to cover the entrance fee to the National Stud. Anyone who would like to go on the outing or alternatively would just like to join the group for dinner should give their name to one of the following as soon as possible: May Byrne (9146193), Jenny Byrne, Marie Byrne (9146238), Nan Farrell (9146239), Betty Grogan, Josie Kelly (087-8324656), Maureen Byrne (087-6815268). Please take this notice as your official invitation as it is not possible to issue individual invitations. All are welcome and it is hoped that everyone will enjoy a great day out.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to Seamus Doyle, Rathcrogue on the death of his brother Anthony Doyle, Rathstewart Crescent, Athy and formerly Maganey who died on Thursday last.
Burial took place after Requiem Mass in St. Laurence O'Toole Church, Levitstown on Saturday last.
Also to Susan Nolan, Tinryland on the death of her sister in law, Mary Whelan in Australia recently.

Race Night

The Tinryland GFC Race Night in aid of the Juvenile Club has been re-fixed for Saturday next, June 21st at 8.30 pm in the GAA Clubhouse, Rathcrogue. Please support this annual fundraiser.

Visit

Athy Native Clifford Reid visited the Senior classes in the school on Monday last where he entertained them with stories of his epic trek to the South Pole last year.
Clifford was part of the Beyond Endurance team which traversed South Georgia via the route of the legendary explorer Ernest Shackleton who was from Kilkea.
The expedition was recently covered as part of a 4 programme series on RTE.

Green Flag Ceremony

Tinryland National School was recently awarded their second Green Flag by An Taisce. This was for the Energy Awareness Programme.
The Flag-raising ceremony will take place on Monday June 23rd at 11.30 am in Tinryland National School. All are welcome to attend.

Tidy Towns

The Tidy Towns Committee wishes to express thanks to many people for donations received. The committee wishes to invite residents to join in their 2008 campaign every Tuesday and Wednesday evening at 7 pm.

ICA News

Tinryland ICA would like to thank all those who have contributed so far towards the cost of producing their Cookery book, for their 60th anniversary, which is early next year. Work is currently in progress and it will be on sale before the end of the year. If anyone would like contribute they can forward donations to the Secretary, Mrs. Margo Brophy, Ballybar, Carlow.

Cemetery Mass

This years Cemetery Mass will take place in Tinryland on Friday July 4th at 8pm.
Graves should be attended to well in advance of the annual mass.

June Energy Saving Tip

Tinryland National School Energy Saving Tip for June is: To save energy, when the weather is dry, avoid the tumble drier, dry your washing on the clothes line instead.

Pilgrimage 2008

The St. Pio Pilgrimage 2008 to Benevento and San Giovanni, takes place from August 8th (St. Pio's Anniversary) for 7 nights. The group leader is Brendan Byrne and the spiritual director is Fr. Brendan Byrne. There is a special group price of 849. For more information contact 059-9152666.
