Opening of Bypass
Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey TD, will officially opened the N9 Carlow Bypass which passes through Tinryland Parish. The 18.5 km section of dual carriageway runs from Prumplestown near Castledermot to Powerstown with junctions at these two points and also in Rathcrogue. The new roadway which is finally complete will be of much convenience for local motorists by cutting travel times to Dublin and Kilkenny and is the first stretch of dual carriageway in County Carlow. There is also now a cycle path from Kanes Cross to the GAA Club in Rathcrogue with a pedestrian underpass. The overall project will be finished by the end of 2010 when over 110km of continous motorway will have been constructed from Kilcullen to Waterford.
