At the Carlow AGM of Community Games, Bennekerry/Tinryland were complimented by games director Liam Lyons on their achievements during 2007. The area finished 4th out of 14 areas for Community Games participation. At the County finals, B/T were 2nd as the best turned out area.In Mosney, MacDara Burke took silver in the Boys Under 12 Art while Sara Rennick won Gold in the Girls Under 14 gymnastics. In the team gymnastics, Sara along with Brendan Hutton, Rebecca Holohan and tricia Sloyan all took gold medals while Donal Curran reached the final of the Boys Under 14 Breaststroke.This was the first year in the past decade that the area failed to win an athletics medal at national level.

Parent Teacher AGM
There was a good attendance at the Tinryland Parent-Teacher AGM which was held in the School PE Room recently. Secretary Caroline Farrell outlined the various activities undertaken by the committee during the year. Treasurer Barbara Nolan reported a small balance for the 2007/2008 year.The officers elected were: Chairperson- Mrs. Martina Hickey, Ballybar, Secretary Mrs. Caroline Farrell, Garryhundon, Assistant Secretary mrs. Kay McGrath, Linkardstown and Treasurer Barbara Townsend.
Community Carol Service
There will be a Community Carol Service in St. Joseph’s Church, TinrylandOn Tuesday December 11th at 7.30 pm. It is hoped to collect non perishable food items and monetary donations during the service. Food will be given to St Vincent De Paul for Christmas hampers and the money will be given to SVDP and to Saplings School for children with autism in Carlow.
Carlow County Council is again running an Anti-Litter League over the next few months. Please be very attentive to the matter of disposal of litter and keep the village clean. Tinryland are once again entered in the competition.
