Community Games Success
On the opening weekend of the National Community Games Finals in Mosney Co. Meath, there were once again medal-winning performances by Tinryland/Bennekerry competitors in gymnastics events.
Sara Rennick won an excellent Gold for the 2nd successive year in the Girls U14 Gymnastics with the team of Sara, Tricia Sloyan, Rebecca Holohan and Brendan Hutton again winning gold medals to add to last years success.
While there some good overall performances from local competitors in the Athletics finals over the weekend, for the first time in a number of years there were no medals won
Tinryland Variety Group will hold its annual general meeting in Tinryland Clubhouse at 8:00pm on Tuesday 18th September. Anybody that has been involved with the group is asked to make a special effort to attend this very important meeting.
This year, particular invitation is extended to those who would like to work on the production end of things within the group. So any budding stage producers, choreographers, actors, singers and dancers are welcome to attend.
A lot of fundraising is once again needed to finance another show for 2008. Following the success of the last three years it would really be a shame not to make a big effort in the coming year.
The group is currently conducting an inventory on all costumes, props etc. The members of the committee would appreciate if anybody that still has anything belong to the variety group would return them as soon as possible. Most of these costumes were flown in from England and a tremendous amount of fundraising was done to acquire them for the group. Anybody that does not return costumes and props to committee members in the near future will be issued with an invoice for the cost of the costumes in order to cover expenses.
