Tinryland excel in Tops final

TINRYLAND Variety group put up an excellent performance in the SE Tops of the Town finals in Taghmon, Co. Wexford.

It was a major achievement to reach the final of the seven participating acts, considering it was their first time to enter. The winners were Kilmore, Co. Wexford who won the competition for the 3rd time in four years. Their score was 82, and Tinryland’s was 78.

Robert O’Neill was awarded the trophy for the best up and coming producer. Robert was unique in being the producer, choreographer, musical director and performer. Many present felt such talent should be encouraged as he will surely receive offers from far and wide!

Over 800 present at the event gave great vocal support to the Tinryland act which was produced with a budget of about 10% of other participants. Tinryland excelled in their choreography and comedy.

Olivia Murphy starred in a very amusing item called ‘Johnny’s dead’. Michelle Hutton was excellent as the teacher of Junior Infants, as was Deirdre Foster as Patricia the Stripper.

Ber Deane had everybody amused with her recitation ‘Everybody’s playing d’aul Pool’ Brian O’Halloran showed real talent on the stage as the doctor in ‘Johnny’s dead’, and his singing with the lovely voice of Noreen Farrell was memorable. DVDs of the show are available, and would be a great buy to get a taste of the fantastic local tal ent. Well done to all!
