On the opening weekend of the National Community Games Finals in Mosney Co. Meath, there were once again medal-winning performances by Tinryland/Bennekerry competitors.
Sara Rennick won an excellent Gold in the Girls U14 Gymnastics with the team of Sara, Patricia Floyan, Rebecca Holohan and Brendan Hutton winning gold medals.
In the Art Competition, MacDara Burke was 2nd in the Boys Under 12 with brother Fionnan 3rd in the Boys Under 10 section.
At their recent meeting, the Tinryland Tidy Towns Committee thanked the people of the area for their huge support over the summer months in keeping the village looking in top shape.
Many of the local sponsors were also praised for their very generous contributions to the Tidy Towns Fund with huge improvements made to the Kaneís Cross area at the junction of the main Carlow/Wexford road with mature trees also being planted.
A very successful fundraiser was held in the GAA Club with a new mower purchased by the committee in recent weeks.
Judging for the groups tidy towns competition was held during the first week of August with the judges being very impressed by the beautiful displays around the village.
More improvements will be seen around the area and village over the coming months.
The wedding took place in St. Johnís Church, Clonlara Co. Clare on Saturday last of Jim Deane, Tinryland and Emma Fitzgerald of Wollongong, Australia.
The celebrant was Fr. John McEvoy PP Tinryland assisted by Rev. Enright PP Clonlara.
The reception was held in Glin Castle Co. Limerick.
Jimís many customers in Tinryland wish the couple every success and happiness in the years ahead.
Tracksuits for pupils of Tinryland NS are now available in Jason Farrell Sports Shop in the Fairgreen Shopping Centre.
The cost is 36 Euro for children between 4 and 11 and 41 Euro for older children. These costs include the school crest.
The school re-opens on Wednesday August 30th.
