Success for Local Area at Community Games Finals
Area 11 had some fine individual successes at the Carlow Community Games Finals in Ardattin recently.
The Murphy brothers of Linkardstown all produced fine individual performances to ensure that all the family will represent Carlow in the National finals in Mosney Co. Meath in September.
Darren won the U16 discus, Gregg the U14 Shot Putt while Adam was a scoring member of the winning U12 Boys Relay team.
Deirdre Doyle completed a very busy weekend by winning the Girls U16 Marathon and helping the Girls U16 relay team to County Gold.
On the previous day, she competed in the Tailteann games in Tullamore and later on Sunday evening scored 15 of the Area 11 total of 25 pts in the U16 Basketball win over Kilmore in the Leinster Quarter-Final.
Other fine individual winners were Sean Kirwan (Boys U10 200m), Marcus Lawlor (Boys U12 100m), Alison Farrell (Girls U14 Hurdles), Aisling Kinsella (Girls U16 1500m) and Chris Costello (Boys U16 High Jump).
In the Boys U12 Relay, Area 11 teams won both gold and silver.

Girls U14 (Alison Farrell, Jemina Kirwan, Aoife Byrne, Niamh Redmond and Niamh Walshe)

Tinryland AC Juvenile athletes competed in the St. Abban’s Sports on Friday last.

Girls U9 60m 2nd- Anne Roche, U13 700m 1st- Jenny Doheny, U14 700m 2nd- Mary Ann O’Sullivan, U16 1200m Walk 1st- Isobel Hegarty 2nd- Michelle Purcell, U17 700m 1st- Deirdre Doyle, Senior Women 200m 1st- Deirdre Doyle.
Boys U10 300m 2nd- John Murphy, U13 80m 2nd- Craig Coffey, U13 Long Jump 1st- Craig Coffey, U13 700m 3rd- Shane Hegarty, U16 1200m Walk 1st- Tommy Monahan, Junior Men 1100m 1st- Patrick Mullins, Senior Men 400m 3rd- Patrick Mullins.

Tidy Towns Fundraiser
A fundraiser in aid of the local tidy towns project will take place on Friday July 21st in Tinryland GAA Centre, Rathcrogue. Music will be provided by Penny Lane. Admission is 5 euro.
The Tinryland ICA Guild would like to thank sincerely all those who supported the recent Cake Sale and Coffee morning in aid of Fr. Eamonn Hayden’s mission in Zambia. A cheque of 1,000 Euro, proceeds of the morning will be presented to Fr. Eamonn during his forthcoming holiday at home in July.
Due to the growing number of pupils in Tinryland NS, the Department of Education and Science has sanctioned the appointment of an extra teacher for September 2006. For the first time, Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class will be separate classes. The school re-opens on Wed August 30th.
