Weekly News Roundup - Sunday 2 Jul 2006
Much progress has been made in the village during the past few weeks. The committee is delighted with the support given to date – walls have been cleaned and painted, broken windows repaired, pots painted and planted, and a lovely quiet sitting area in the village centre is looking great. The new estate Dun na Ri has new flower beds, and is getting great care and attention from the residents. The Church grounds are getting a face-lift also, in readiness for the cemetery mass on July 7th. Thanks are due to Mr. Bernard Duff and council workers who helped with the work this week. Money for all these projects is needed; so fund raising will be carried out in the coming weeks. A night out in the G.A.A club is planned for July, and the Tinryland variety group will re-stage their fabulous show in August. Your support for these ventures will be appreciated. The school children have been taking part in a colouring competition – the results will be announced next week. Please take part in the flower/gardening competitions. Entry forms are in Deane’s shop. With a little bit of community spirit we can have a beautiful village.
A fun run/walk in aid of the Holy Angels Day Care centre, Carlow takes place on Wed July 5th in Tinryland at 7 pm. Entries are 10 Euro. All proceeds will go towards the Holy Angels. The winner is the person who finishes nearest to their predicted time. There will be a large number of spot prizes on the night.
