Tinryland National School to receive Green Flag on Friday

COUNCILLOR Jimmy Townsend will unveil Tinryland National School’s first Green Flag Environmental Award at a ceremony in the school on Friday next, June 2 at 11 am. Jimmy was part of the Green Flag Committee, which have been working since last September to achieve this award. The flag will be displayed at the front of the school premises.

TINRYLAND JUVENILE GFC FAMILY GOLF OUTING: Tinryland juvenile GFC are holding a family golf outing with a difference at Quinagh Par 3 Course on Saturday, June 17. The format for the day will include teams of 2 players made up of Father and Son or Brother and Sister, Mother and Son or Brother and brother. The entry fee is €35 per team and one of the slogans being used in promoting the event is “Bring out the tiger in Dad”. Further details from any member of Tinryland Juvenile committee.

TIDY TOWNS: Tinryland Tidy Towns Committee, held their 1st meeting on Monday May, 22 and the following committee was elected: Chairman: Michael Byrne; Secretary: Martina Kenny; Treasurer: Jim Deane; Committee members: Trudi Shannon; Barbara Nolan; Brendan Farrell; P Moore; Fr. McEvoy; Tina Doyle; Pat Curran. The committee would like people to volunteer to help with clean-up work which has begun since Monday last.

CEMETERY MASS: This years cemetery mass will be held in Tinryland on Friday July 7 at 8 pm. All graves should be attended to over the coming month.

ICA OUTING: The Tinryland ICA Annual Outing to Lismore Castle and Gardens in Co. Waterford and Mount Melleray will take place on Tuesday, June 13. Anyone interested in joining the guild members on their outing should contact either Frances at 9142073 or Freda at 9146539 before June 7th for further information.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK: On Sunday, June 4, Bishop Jim Moriarty will lead priests and people of the diocese in the Pilgrimage to Knock. A bus will bring pilgrims from the area. Tickets for the bus may be obtained in the sacristy for adults €20 or children U-14 €10.

ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS SOCIETY: The St Joseph’s Young Priests Society Annual Pilgrimage to Knock will take place on Saturday, June 24. A bus will be organised and tickets may be booked through Josie Kelly, Linkardstown phone 087-8324656. The preacher at the Eucharist in the basilica will be Fr. Conn Maloney, Carlow College.
