The Boys Under 10 Gaelic Football team played Kilmore from Wexford in the second round of the Leinster Community Games Competition in Rathcrogue on Friday and emerged victorious on a scoreline of 4-1 to 2-4. The half time score was 2-1 to 0-4 and it was an evenly matched game throughout. The team will now progress to the Leinster Finals on the 9th and 10th of July in Carlow.
The team was Diarmuid Walshe (1-0), Mark Rennick (1-0), Brian Mullen (1-1), Cormac Duff (1-0), Odhlan Duff, Ian McGrath, Adam Murphy, Adam Nolan, Cathal Costello, Sean Kirwan, Mark Lawlor, Michael Calvey, Conall O’Se, Macdara Burke, Andrew Hanley and Jack Brennan.
B/T will have two other teams representing Carlow in the Leinster Finals: The Under 13 Handball Team of Michael Lawlor, Cian Lawlor, Cathal O’Toole, James Murphy and Eoin Maddock
The Girls Under 16 Basketball Team of Deirdre Doyle, Ciara Butler, Aisling Kinsella, Mary Barrett, Ciara Smyth and Jamie Lee Doyle.
The Girls Under 16 Basketball team defeated Wexford opposition by 32 pts to 18 to advance to the Leinster Finals last week. The half time score was 12 pts to 10.
The team was Deirdre Doyle (10), Ciara Butler (10), Aisling Kinsella (8), Mary Barrett (2), Ciara Smyth (2) and Jamie Lee Doyle.
Anyone who has a Community Games singlet is asked to return it as soon as possible to Ann Lyons, Tinryland or any committee member.
The Annual Cemetery mass will be celebrated in Tinryland on Friday 8th July 8pm. That leaves us less than three weeks to prepare the graves and clean the cemetery in general.
Tinryland AC will hold a 4 mile road race in aid of the Special Olympics (Carlow) on Wednesday July 6th in Tinryland at 7.30 pm. Joggers, fun runners and walkers are very welcome. For further enquiries contact Sean at 087-2509520.
28 Children from Tinryland NS received their Pioneer Pins in St. Joseph’s Church on Thursday last. The pins were presented by local sacristan Kathleen O’Neill at a special mass, which also marked the graduation of the 6th class pupils.
Mrs. Maureen Regan, Graiguenaspideogue, received a Gold Medal to mark her 50 years as a Pioneer member.
Calling all Senior Citizens
A Summer Party been arranged for all the senior people in the parish, to be held in BallyKealy Manor Hotel, on Sunday 10th July at 4.30pm. An evening meal will be provided followed by entertainment from Tinryland Variety Group and music by Nicky Kealy. An enjoyable evening is promised.
