ATHLETICS: Tinryland AC athlete Pat Byrne produced his best performance to date in the National Senior CC when finishing 14th in the championship in Santry on Saturday last. It was a great day all around for the club as the team of Byrne, Tommy Payne 52nd, Eddie O’Neill 57th and PJ Byrne 66th were 8th and won the ‘C’ section. This was the second National team award for the club in the space of a year as they also took the National 10km last year. Byrne’s run was the best by a Tinryland athlete since Denis Shannon was 19th in the same event in 1974.
U13 GIRLS INDOOR SOCCER: B/T played Rathvilly in the 1st round of the Community games indoor soccer. B/T tried hard but the goals didn’t come and at half-time the score was B/T 0-1 Rathvilly. In the second half B/T girls pushed forward but it was Rathvilly who got the only goal of the half leaving the final score 2-0.
B/T LADIES FOOTBALL: B/T Ladies Football team was presented with their minor medals on Friday night at the annual Tinryland G.F.C dinner dance by chairperson Bernie Whelan. A great night was had by all players and committee members. Thanks to Tinryland G.F.C for inviting us to be part of a great occasion. Wishing best of luck to both clubs for the coming year.
YOGA CLASSES: Local yoga instructor Angela Doyle of Rathcrogue is currently holding yoga classes in Carlow Yoga and health centre 7 Brown Street Carlow on Friday evenings between 7 and 8 p.m.
