Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to John Browne, Ballinacarrig on the death of his brother Michael, who died at his home in Kilmihill Co. Clare on Saturday 15th. January, after a long illness. Michael was a well known farmer and dog trainer. One of his dogs ‘Burnpark Prince’ won the Irish Oaks in the 90’s. His remains were removed from his home to St. Michael’s Church Kilmihill on Sunday. He was interred after requiem mass in the local cemetery on Monday.

Bennekerry/Tinryland Ladies Football A.G.M
The A.G.M of Bennekerry/Tinryland ladies football was held in Rathcrogue Centre on Tuesday Jan. 11th. The Chairperson Bernie Whelan welcomed the fine attendance of 24 members. She congratulated the club on winning the Carlow u.14, 16 and minor C’Ships, the u. 12 team who finished runners-up and the u.13 team who represented Carlow in Eigse in Co. Tyrone. Club colours were discussed and it was decided to stick to the colours of black and amber (as the athletic club), to facilitate the large catchment area from which the players are drawn. Committee elected are as follows:
