St. Stephens Day Handicap

The Annual Tinryland AC Turkey Trot will take place on St. Stephens Day in Tinryland Village at 12 am. The event is open to runners, joggers and walkers alike. The presentation of prizes will take place afterwards in the Tinryland GAA Centre. There will be prizes to all who complete the handicap.
Registration will take place in the school from 11.30 am onwards.

Christmas entertainment in Tinryland G.F.C.

Tinryland G.F.C. recently announced its entertainment programme for the upcoming Christmas holiday period. On Saturday 18th December the annual members night will be held with music being provided by Penny Lane. On that night also the Christmas draw will be held. Tickets should be returned to the club before Friday next, December 17th. The childrens Christmas party takes place on Sunday 19th December between 6.30 p.m. and 9 00 p.m. Traditional music will be provided in the lounge between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on that Sunday evening also.
Among the items lined up for St. Stephens day are a mixed Gaelic football match and a traditional music session. The annual Tinryland A.C. turkey trot road race also takes place at 12 a.m. on St Stephens’s day and the prizes will be presented afterwards in the G.A.A. club. On New Years Eve a function will be held to ring in 2005 with music being provided by Highway Express. Admission by ticket only costing €10.
The annual juvenile presentation evening will be held on Friday 14th January when Kerry captain Dara O’Cinneide will bring the Sam Maguire cup to the clubhouse at 6 p.m. The Tinryland G.F.C. dinner dance has been fixed for Friday 18th February at the Seven Oaks hotel with music by top entertainers Vegas Nights. There is sure to be a big demand for tickets for this years dinner dance following the very successful performances by Tinryland teams during 2004.

Tinryland National School

The children of Fr. Cullen Memorial School will have their Christmas Concert next week. There will be a matinee on Friday next December 17th at 12.30 pm – open to all. On the following Monday night, December 20th, the show begins at 7:30 pm sharp. Because of limited space the night show has been confined to parents only.

Christmas Mass Times

Vigil Mass, 9.00 pm on December 24th. Masses at 9.00 am an 11.00 am on Christmas Day. St. Stephens Day (Sunday 26th) will have two Masses at 9.00 am and 11.00 am.

Fine Run by Mary-Ann

Tinryland athlete, Ballinabranna based Mary-Ann O’Sullivan had an excellent run in the National u.12 cross/country finals to finish in 9th position in the 120 strong field. The event was held in Mullingar on Sunday. She also won a silver medal as a member of the Leinster team. She is a daughter of well-known athletes Jeremiah and Margaret.

Senior Citizens Party

The organizing committee of the Tinryland Senior Citizens party in Ballykealy House on Sunday are to be congratulated on another very enjoyable night for all concerned. Ted Egan and his staff produced a sumptuous meal. The cake was cut by Martin & Liz Kavanagh (Rathcrogue) who recently celebrated their wedding Golden Jubilee and Joe & Statia Townsend who will do likewise next February. Poly plants were presented to all present. Music for the night was by Nicky Kealy. Photos can be viewed on the Tinryland Website.
