Community Games AGM

The 22nd AGM of Bennekerry/Tinryland Community Games was held in Rathcrogue Centre on Thursday night last. Outgoing Chairman Tommy Lyons congratulated all the competitors and trainers who helped retain the Hosey Cup at the County Finals.
He also paid tribute to the Boys Under 14 Relay team who won Gold in Mosney and commiserated with the Boys Under 16 team who were unlucky in their relay. He thanked Palatine and Tinryland GFC’s for the use of their playing pitches for training during the year.
Secretary Ann Condron gave a very comprehensive account of the many activities during the year. Pride of place went to the Girls Under 16 Basketball team who reached the Leinster finals. The Girls Under 12 Gaelic team were also County winners. She also made special mention to the Boys Under 15 Handball team who won Silver in the National Finals. In Mosney Sara Rennick won Gold in the Girls Under 12 Gymnastics with Grace Lawlor winning Gold in the Girls Under 8 80m and Sean Kirwan taking Silver in the Boys Under 8 80m.

Reaching Out Magazine

This years Parish Magazine "Reaching Out" is currently being prepared. Anyone who would like to submit an article, report, interesting stories or photographs or other item for publication should forward same to Maureen Byrne, Ballybar Upper before Friday November 19th. Articles can be submitted in any format: handwritten, typed or in electronic format (MS Word.doc) by e-mail to mbyrne242@hotmail.com or on disk. Ordinary photographs or digital jpeg files are also welcome.

Tinryland Senior Citizens Monster draw

Tickets are currently on sale for the Tinryland senior citizens monster draw in aid of the Christmas party fund. Prizes include a DVD player, Meal voucher, Fruit Hamper, Fuel Voucher and many other items. The draw will take place on Friday 19th November during the Tinryland Gun Club fundraising night. Cards are on sale from any committee member or from Deanes Shop.

Diocesan Campaign

Bishop Moriarty has recently launched a “Reach Out” campaign for all parishes. The first stage is focused on advent and reaches out to those less likely to participate in church including lapsed mass-goers, newcomers to the parish or the young. A special candle will be available on December 4th and 5th for distribution to the households of the parish.

Table Quiz

There will be a table quiz in aid of Carlow Choral Society in the Irishmans Lounge, Court Place, Carlow on Wednesday November 17th at 8.30 pm. The cost is 30 Euro per table of 4 and there will be lots of spot prizes on the night.
