Off to Karate World Cup

Best wishes are extended to local youngsters Greg Murphy, Linkardstown, Cillian Townsend, Linkardstown and Cian Lawlor, Tinryland who will compete on the Irish team in the WKC Childrens and Junior Karate World Cup this coming weekend. The trio, who are all members of the Carlow Karate Club, will be aiming for success at the championships, which will be held in Darmstadt in Germany.

Tinryland lose in Schools Final

Having been well beaten in the early rounds by Bennekerry, Tinryland were determined to put up a much better show in the Carlow Schools Division 2 Final on Saturday last. They had defeated Ballyconnell a few days earlier in the semis and felt confident. At half time after some poor scoring efforts by both sides, Bennekerry led by 1-4 to 1-2. On the change over, Bennekerry with the aid of the wind, completely dominated and scored a further 2-3 to Tinryland’s solitary point. There was no denying Bennekerry who were worthy winners of the Nationalist Cup for a historic third time in a row. For Tinryland, James Murphy had a great game in goals while Colm Curran and Cathal Whelan in defence, midfielder David Townsend and forwards Martin Deane and Eoin Maddock all had good displays.

Tinryland Senior Citizens Monster draw

Tickets are currently on sale for the Tinryland senior citizens monster draw in aid of the Christmas party fund. Prizes include a DVD player, Meal voucher, Fruit Hamper, Fuel Voucher and many other items. The draw will take place on Friday 19th November during the Tinryland Gun Club fundraising night. Cards are on sale from any committee member or from Deanes Shop.

Bus Tour
