Three St. Joseph’s Players selected for International soccer Tournament
Three local soccer players have been selected on a South East team for a major International schoolboys tournament in Dublin on 21st and 22nd August. Ryan Curran, David O’Shea and Conor Byrne impressed in a recent International trial and will get another chance to impress the Republic of Ireland U14 selectors when they take part in an 8 team tournament hosted by leading Dublin schoolboy club St. Joseph’s Boys.
Teams from Ireland, Japan, Sweden and England are due to take part in the Tournament.
With construction of the 26 new houses at the entrance to the village almost complete, Billy Duggan, Housing Officer with Carlow County Council said he hopes to hand out the keys to their respective owners within the next two weeks. With the superb estate built on an elevated site by Cedarwood Crafts, Kilkenny attracting almost 50 would be tenants, disappointed applicants can look forward to phase two of this development. The work commenced on these houses in March 2003.
There will be a fundraising night on Sunday August 22 in Ballinabranna Clubhouse in aid of Fr. Eamonn Hayden’s Missionary Work in Zambia. Music will be provided by Josie and River Road. There will be a raffle on the night and dancing is between 9.30 pm and 12 am.
