Win for locally owned racehorse at Killarney races
Locally owned racehorse Treculiar was a very impressive winner of the Novice Hurdle at Killarney races on Thursday last. Treculiar is owned by Shay and Rita Byrne of Linkardstown and is trained in Fenniscourt near Bagenalstown by Pat Hughes who has his horses flying at the moment. In last Thursdays race Treculiar was ridden by triple Cheltenham Gold Cup winning jockey Jim Culloty. The winning horse will now head to the Galway races next week to compete in one of the big handicaps.
Tinryland G.F.C. Bar B Que
Tinryland G.F.C. will hold a Barbeque in the club grounds on Saturday 7th August.
Music on the night will be provided by Carlow band Phoenix fronted by well-known musician John Brennan. Admission on the night is strictly by ticket only. Tickets at €15 can be purchased in the club. For further details contact Peter Scully, Mick Murphy or Sandra Walker.
Used Computer/Fax Cartridges
Carlow Rotary Club are collecting used Computer/Fax/Photocopier Cartridges which can be in turn recycled to facilitate this, a box has been placed in Deanes Shop, Tinryland to collect same. All support would be greatly appreciated.
Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Brigid Curtis, Tinryland and Mrs. Trudi Shannon, Tinryland on the deaths of their brother Eamonn Furlong and his son Martin, Adamstown Co. Wexford who died following a tragic road accident on the N11 near Arklow on Saturday last while travelling to the Wexford-Derry GAA Match in Dublin.
