Jimmy Crowley in concert

Legendary folk singer Jimmy Crowley will perform in concert at Tinryland G.F.C. Rathcrogue on this coming Saturday commencing at 9 p.m. The Cork born singer who is renowned for his unique repertoire of songs was once a member of the band Stokers Lodge and has formed musical associations with many of Ireland’s folk greats such as Micheal O’Domhnaill of the Bothy Band, Joe Burke, Jackie Daly and Donal Lunny.
Crowley who holds a degree in Irish and Folklore from U.C.C. has been travelling the world as a professional musician for over a quarter of a century. He specialises in playing the Bouzouki and Mandola and few can match him for the humour, joy and storytelling craft, which he brings to his many well-known songs.
On Saturday next Jimmy will perform many well-known numbers from his Hit albums such as “The boys of Fairhill”, “Somethings never change” and “My love is a tall Ship”.
Tickets for the concert will be available on the door for €5.

Under 10 League
St Josephs 2- GRS Utd 0

St Josephs under 10s put on a brilliant display against a very good GRS Utd team. With every one playing well and both teams showing the benefit of good coaching this was a thoroughly enjoyable game for all. Joeys took the lead near half time when a Shane Callanan shot found the roof of the net. Sean Delaney made it 2-0 to the home side but it took great performances from Eoin Maddock, Rory Lynch and Shane Kelly to secure the win.

St Pats Boys 4- St Josephs 2
Aaron Doyle and Ciaran Townsend scored the goals but despite the fine efforts of Greg Murphy, Shane Webb and Kevin Chubb they could not prevent Pats taking the points.

Under 12 League
St Josephs 0-GRS Utd 4

Having not played for some weeks due to the under 13s success the Joeys team failed to work as a unit and consequently with everyone playing as individuals lost easily to a better team. Many mistakes by Joeys and some fine goal keeping by the GRS Keeper made the task too difficult on the day and hopefully this team will improve with effort in the coming weeks. For Joeys Steven Chubb, Kevin Barrett and David Townsend tried hard.

Under 14 League
St Josephs 1- Stretford Utd 4

Despite a great start to the game with Sean Ryan firing the home side ahead after just 3 minutes Joeys did not have the strength in midfield to contain a good Stretford side. Conor Byrne in goal, Ryan Curran and Colm Nolan were outstanding for the home side.
