New Houses Set for Tinryland
It has been announced that the tender for the construction of 26 new houses in Tinryland has been awarded to Cedarwood Crafts, Kilkenny.
It is expected that work will commence in the area adjacent to the 1798 monument shortly. It is also hoped that after the completion of this project, another 26 houses together with a Community Centre will be constructed under a voluntary housing scheme by Tintean in the locality.
Funding has also been allocated in this year's estimates for the 400m section of road between McArdles Cross and the 1798 Monument at Roche's Cross. Improvements on this stretch of road, which contains 3 industrial units, are badly overdue given the volume of traffic and flooding which has occured in recent years.
The Current Water Supply for Tinryland Village, which comes from the North Regional Water Supply is to be extended to Linkardstown Cross this year and will then be linked through existing pipes to Ballyloo Cross.
This project will be welcomed in this area after recent reports of contamination of the water supply.
