There was a good attendance at the Tinryland Tidy Towns meeting which was held in the GAA Clubhouse, Rathcrogue. Plans were discussed for the clean up and planting of flowers in the village for this year's competition, which will be judged in June/July. A further meeting will be held in Tinryland NS tonight (Wednesday) at 9 pm. Anyone with a pair of willing hands or a good idea is most welcome to attend. The following officers were elected: Chairman: Brendan Farrell, Secretary: Jim Deane, Treasurer: Paddy Regan, PRO: Trudi Shannon, Committee: Ann Conway, Maureen Doran, Pat Curran, Ann Kehoe, Paddy Moore, Paudge and Brigid Curtis.
Due to fading weather conditions the Kevin Jordan Final between Carlow and Dublin was abandoned with 4 minutes remaining in Dr. Cullen Park on Sunday last. Despite the premature end to the game, the match itself was very entertaining and proved a more than useful work out for the forthcoming championships for both teams with Carlow leading by 1-10 to 1-9 at the time. Overall Carlow were slightly the better team in this closely contested game and having trailed the visitors (who were at full strength) by 3 points at the break, some great points and a cracking goal from sub Thomas Walsh put the home side into the lead in this game. After the game, both teams travelled to Tinryland GFC Clubhouse where Carlow Captain Andrew Corden was presented with the Kevin Jordan Cup. The tournament was organised by Tinryland GFC and sponsored by South East Electrical Wholesale Ltd.
