when are junior leagues starting, some great games last year , hopefully more of same to follow

2) LegendThursday 26 Mar 2009 @ 10:48

All the junior fixtures for the next month are on this site under local news for Saturday 21st March. Also on Tinryland G.F.C. website. First junior game next Wednesday. Seniors in action this coming Sunday 2 p.m. at home to Fenagh

3) oldhoopWednesday 8 Apr 2009 @ 10:05

folks, can anyone let me know how juniors got on last night as im away for a few days. seniors did not look too bad on saturday, going in right direction.

4) legendWednesday 8 Apr 2009 @ 11:23

Yes, Old hoop I was at last nights junior game. Terrible weather conditions but a great start for Tinryland in the Div. 3 League. Some very impressive players on view including Shane Delaney, Cian Moore, Damien Power, P J Murphy, Alan Barrett, Kevin barrett, Danny Moran and Darren Murphy in the goal. Final score something like 1-12 to 1-4 and they play Palatine next Tuesday with the seniors against the same opposition on Saturday next away.

5) seanyWednesday 8 Apr 2009 @ 23:58

Yes was a good performance last night alright and good to get the season off to a winning start. Also took in tonights junior B game in Kilbride. We were winning and cruising at half time but totally collapsed in the second half.John Kelly could have a goal near the end but after a great run,his dipping shot was just taken off the line from the keeper.Jason Noctor,Patrick Byrne,Mark and Patrick Townsend,Paul McGrath,John Kelly,Darren Murphy,Kevin Barrett all had ok performances.Kelly scored one point(he was also cruely taken out of with with a stamp on his knee and head in first half) while i could be wrong but i think Darren Murphy scored all the remaining ones, mostly from free's.However we may move on and all 3 adult teams next game's are against local rivals Palatine.C'mon the hoops. Also on another note, poor showing at training Tuesday night after the senior game on Saturday.

6) oldhoopThursday 9 Apr 2009 @ 20:34

thanks for the update on the matches lads, its good to catch up on things while im away. junior b,s look to be very young, probaly could do with a few heavies

7) LegendFriday 10 Apr 2009 @ 12:27

Just got a message from the club that the Senior match with Pal on Saturday at 6.30 p.m. will now be in Tinryland. Anyone know what the team might be as there are a lot of lads gone away for weekend and a good few injuries also

8) seanyFriday 10 Apr 2009 @ 12:53

No idea about the team legend. As you say with lads missing,we will just have to wait and see who turns up.Home advantage might be vital.Best of luck lads.

9) legendSunday 12 Apr 2009 @ 8:14

Great result last night in the Senior football league. Tinryland 2-11 Palatine 1-10. A very good performance from Tinryland and a deserved win. Despite being short a lot of first team players the lads wore the jersey with pride and gave a very honest display. They matched Pal for football and won the row as well. Like the Tinryland of old. I mean back to the good old days. It may have been only a league game in April but it was a very significent performance. Defence once again outstanding with Trevor, Doran,J P , Dempsey, Byrne, Murphy & Niall Barrett magnificent. Evan and E I magnificent at midfield and the forwards led by Broderick and backed up by Morrissey, Barrett, Delaney, O'Toole , and Moran and subs Cian Moore, Glen Doyle and young Whelan brilliant.

10) oldhoopMonday 13 Apr 2009 @ 12:51

great win by the seniors, but one swallow never made a summer. some of the changes made by selectors very strange, things became over complicated, but its great to see pride back in jersey well done lads

11) legendFriday 17 Apr 2009 @ 9:57

Another good win in the Senior League Division 1 last night against Grange. That makes it 3 wins from 4. Opposition very poor however and result never in doubt. Conditions horrible but Tinryland had match won after only 10 minutes after goals from Shane Delaney and Alan Barrett. Paul Broderick once again on fire scoring 6 points while Tinrylands other goal in 3-13 to 0-3 win was scored by Damien Power. Scully and Evan Doyle were outstanding at midfield while the whole six backs were rock solid. Selectors gave a run to five subs and it was good to see Sparks and John Kelly getting a run. Next senior match is against Old Leighlin in Old Leighlin on Friday next

12) seanyFriday 17 Apr 2009 @ 11:39

Was also at the game last night legend.Rough night as im sure you'l agree.Opposition very poor yes but winning breeds confidence and as you say 3 wins from 4 in the top division after a few years is a great start. After beating Old Leighlin in last years C'ship,i would be very confident of us overturning them again, but they will be hard though. Also as you said, yes they gave the five subs a good run out and ye good to see the two lads geting a game.Best of luck next week.

13) oldhoopThursday 23 Apr 2009 @ 12:36

i heard the junior b team got off the mark last night against the cocks ,always good to win derby matches.did any of u lads get to see the game, i believe its a very young team but they are in good hands with the three lads.onwards and upwards now young men

14) seanyThursday 23 Apr 2009 @ 19:49

Didnt make it to the junior B game last night but yes they did get off the mark.Im told if the cocks could kick at all they would have been out of sight but good to win the local ones yes.Few of these lads also on the junior A who also had a good win Wednesday night.

15) B.MFriday 24 Apr 2009 @ 12:25

As you say, as long as we keep winning games the confidence will be up and we'll get on a roll. Hopefully 2009 will be a more fruitful year and both junior teams and the seniors have a serious chance of winning something.

16) martinSaturday 25 Apr 2009 @ 14:33

don't count your chickens be fore the hatch. hopefully we will get some silver ware this year

17) seanyWednesday 29 Apr 2009 @ 16:49

Junior A team lost out to O' Hanrahans away last night in div 3 by 2-12 to 16 points.Good scoring but the blues were just that bit sharper all over i think. Also, certain unrest in the dressing room after the game i heard.Only 6 lads who started were training night before!!

18) legendSunday 10 May 2009 @ 18:25

Tinryland seniors got back to winning after two poor performances when they beat rathvilly last night.A very low scoring game and both teams short regulars but a good win nonetheless. A few more wins and we could be in semi final. next game at home to Kilbride I think its Saturday next.

19) seanyMonday 11 May 2009 @ 16:05

Good win ye,againat a genuine every year SFC contender and favourite. One thing i would be concerned about is in our last three SFL games,we have scored 0-3,0-5 and now 1-4 so big room for improvement but we will take the win. Also want to congratulate the Juniopr B's on third win in a row last week.Good luck to all three teams again this week.

20) oldhoopTuesday 12 May 2009 @ 18:12

hopefully juniors can return to winning ways tonight against milford, are b team playing tomorrow night

21) seanyTuesday 12 May 2009 @ 22:55

Yes oldhoop,Junior B's playing at home to Naomh Eoin tomorrow night at 7.30.They had a good win in Grange last week and are going for four wins in a row.

22) legendTuesday 12 May 2009 @ 23:00

Watched the juniors easily beat Milford tonight. Impressed by a few players. Shapes very good also Richie White, Damien worked hard as usual also Danny Moran and Sparks and Padraig Delaney. Juniors showing good improvement with every game and a few sure to be pushing for the Senior team very soon.Thats 5 games in a row that Tinryland have now won at adult level in 8 days

23) martinThursday 14 May 2009 @ 1:22

tinryland v naomh eoin what went wrong the lost this one i heard it was a good game any way

24) seanyThursday 14 May 2009 @ 10:35

Ye Martin lost the Junior B last night 0-9 to 1-3.Not allowed use any minors as they were playing last night to which was a big loss from the start.Mannion scored a goal as keeper let easy shot all the way to the net.Colm Nolan scored a point and John Kelly scored 0-2.Naomh Eoin missed a penalty.

25) oldhoopThursday 21 May 2009 @ 18:38

how did the juniors get on this week.

26) seanyThursday 21 May 2009 @ 23:04

Junior A's bet Old Leighlin away on Tuesday while the junior B's were due to travel to Clonmore on Wednesday but was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and will be refixed next week.Best of luck to the seniors tomorrow night away to St.Patricks to.

27) oldhoopFriday 22 May 2009 @ 16:43

thanks seany, hopefully i can catch next weeks games. how are we looking for semi final spots in leagues.we need something to cheer us up these days.

28) seanyTuesday 2 Jun 2009 @ 23:13

Junior A's lost out away to Naomh Eoin tonight, think lost by around 7 or 8 points in the end.Conceded 6 goals(5 in first half) but they were that bit fittter and quicker all over the field all through the game and according to a selector after the game 2 lads have dropped off panel. Also though Ciaran Williamson was unlucky to be subbed having only come on as i thought he did well.Best of luck to the Junior B's tomorrow night at home to Askea.

29) martinWednesday 10 Jun 2009 @ 23:20

good win over old leighlin to night lads keep it up

30) seanyThursday 11 Jun 2009 @ 18:30

Ye Martin, good win for the Junior B's away to Old Leighlin,1-11 to 1-9.Really good game played at championship pace and everyone played well.

31) legendTuesday 16 Jun 2009 @ 18:09

Best of luck to the junior A team in the league play off with Naomh Eoin in Ballon on Wednesday evening. U21 championship on the horizon. Training begins on Tuesday evening 16th June with seniors at 7.30 p.m. Looks to be a strong U21 panel this year. First match in mid July against St. Andrews

32) legendWednesday 17 Jun 2009 @ 23:49

Great win for the Junior A tem against Myshall tonight. 5 points down after 8 minutes won by 4 in the end. Held Myshall scorless for almost 50 minutes. Excellent performances from Mernagh, Barrett and Ryan in the full back line. Shane O'Neill excellent in his first game back since returning from England also John Doyle and Alan Barrett brilliant up front with Danny Moran and Matty O'Toole & Shane Delaney also good as was P J Murphy and E I when he concentrated on playing football. They play in the semi final next week against either Rathvilly or Pal. This team is getting fitter by the week and the hard training with the seniors is definitely paying off

33) martinThursday 18 Jun 2009 @ 1:26

the are playing rathvilly the semi, this will be agood test for championship ,and maby sum silver ware,

34) martinThursday 18 Jun 2009 @ 1:38

the are playing rathvilly the semi, this will be agood test for championship ,and maby sum silver ware,

35) seanyThursday 18 Jun 2009 @ 22:31

Good win for Junior A's alright. Also tonight the Junior Bteam followed up last weeks win over Old Leighlin With a good win over St. Andrew's in a great game of football.Outstanding performances by Luke Doyle,John Kelly,David O Shea in the backs. While from midfield up,Townsend,Mannion, and John White(scorer of 2 great goals) were the pick.Keep it up lads.another great win. Also played without the minors tonight aswell.

36) legendFriday 19 Jun 2009 @ 0:15

Great news about the Junior B team. Didn't make the game tonight but good that they won. Any stars of the future in action I hear that young Mannion is a promising player. Can Tinryland make a clean sweep this year and win everything in Carlow. That would be some achievement. Any U21 or future senior players in action tonight?

37) seanyFriday 19 Jun 2009 @ 14:49

Didnt make the A game this week, only the B team. That is a possibility legend but a clean sweep is not easy, plus players from one team will be lost to other's,you know how it goes.A few good players last night alright. The half back line were the best line on the field.Luje Doyle def man of the match at centre back and will be a big player for u 21 as will other half back David O Shea while John Kelly at number 5 has got a new lease of life in the backs and is playing fantastic and scored great point in second half.Training with the seniors last few years has kept him fit as.John Whyte scored two great goals from full forward and a call up to the a team in the pipeline maybe?Ciaran Williamson also gave as his all aswell as the reliable Townsends who pulled big performances out of the bag

38) martinSunday 21 Jun 2009 @ 12:16

if you have a tacking half backs that play will will draw defenders out and leave space for forwards to score more

39) seanySunday 21 Jun 2009 @ 16:05

Not always martin,if you have an attacking half back who is also defencive you will be fine.

40) seanTuesday 23 Jun 2009 @ 17:05

I think he means if we have ataking half backs it will draw out the othir teams defencders leaving our forward with more room to score, pop one ball over the heads and were in

41) seanyTuesday 23 Jun 2009 @ 18:26

Myabe so Sean, bit hard to understand Martin'e messages sometimes.

42) legendTuesday 23 Jun 2009 @ 23:12

Best of luck to the Junior A team in the league semi final on Thursday against Rathvilly in Grange. Great turnout at training this week. Seniors in action over the weekend also against Emo on Friday evening in Tullow tournament and another match in that competition on Sunday evening. Championship getting closer now with the first match against Rathvilly around 19th July. U21 s training with the seniors and juniors also

43) legendMonday 13 Jul 2009 @ 17:57

Good luck to the Junior team in the league final this Monday evening at 8 15 p.m. in Dr Cullen park against O'Hanrahans, also to the U21s who play St. Andrews on Wednesday evening, also the Minors who are in action on Saturday next against Ml. Davitts and the seniors against Rathvilly on next Sunday . A big week for Tinryland football

44) martinTuesday 14 Jul 2009 @ 10:32

first silver this year hope there will be more to follow sorry i was not at game i was working was it a good game

45) legendTuesday 14 Jul 2009 @ 12:15

Good game Martin. Blues beat themselves with lack of discipline. Tinryland would have won anyway as they were the fitter team. Awsome display by EI definitely man of the match. He is developing into a great footballer and showing the results of his new found committment this year. Great displays also by Joe Mernagh, Shane O'Neill, Danny Moran, Chris Townsend and sub Matty O'Toole who was introduced very early on when Sparks Murphy suffered a serious knee injury. Well done to the team management who insisted that players have to train to get their place anymore.Up the Hoops

46) seanyTuesday 14 Jul 2009 @ 15:04

Yes,good win alright.Although legend, without dampening the spirits, the "play if you train" method only started recently and dertainly did not apply at the start of the year!!Anyway, eitherway, good win.Although wont get promotion to Div 2 unless we win the Junior A.Personally its a system i dont agree with and think the league structure should have been left alone.

47) legendTuesday 14 Jul 2009 @ 16:18

Yea Seaney pity they do not get automatic promotion to Div 2. This team can win the junior championship though it depends on how many players are going to be lost to the senior team. They rekon about 4 but there has to be 4 others to replace them in the club at this stage. Whats the story about U21s. Just got a text saying it is off until next week

48) seanThursday 16 Jul 2009 @ 13:40

Any chance of someone putting up the team and the scorers?

49) legendThursday 16 Jul 2009 @ 17:19

Every chance Sean. They are in this weeks Nationalist but here goes anyway. Doran, Ryan, mernagh, Barrett K, Foster, Power, Moran, Delaney, Moore, Scully, O.Neill, Sparks replaced by O'Toole after 5 minutes, Townsend, Doyle and Barrett. John Doyle scored 4 points, Alan Barrett scored 3 Shane O'Neill scored 2, M O'Toole, C Townsend, I Scully, D Moran and I think B Foster 1 point each but am open to correction.

50) martinMonday 20 Jul 2009 @ 0:17

what went wrong to night after all the hard work has been done.was it tacticks to off throw the rest of the teams.maybe meet rathvilly in final

51) seanMonday 20 Jul 2009 @ 12:00

yeah some very well thought out tactics. tinryland wanted to concede 3-16 in a championship game and miss about 10 easy scores as well as being completely outplayed in every sector of the field. Rathvillys centre forward is a smackhead who isnt able to kick the gear but beside our centre back (who is obviously very fond of kfc and pizza hut) he looked like a professional athlete, yes Martin some great taktiks

52) clubmanMonday 20 Jul 2009 @ 13:50

couldnt make the match, can you fill me in on the team and scores

53) seanyMonday 20 Jul 2009 @ 16:07

Sean your a muppet, who cres what there player is or was.Having played against him for many years underage he was and still is a fantastic player. He was off target with a few but he still scored around 1-2,maybe you should use the gear and you might be as good!!Anyway,id say the old fogeys at the bar were delighted we lost, give them something to complain about.

54) seanMonday 20 Jul 2009 @ 17:06

I wont be using the gear Seany and i dont think there is any proof that it would improve me as a footballer, its a pretty stupid thing to say, don't you think? All i'm saying is our centre back is carrying a bit extra on his derriere, as you probably know seany the majority of a players power is generated from there buttocks which is why a jennifer lopez type arse is not ideal.

55) B.MTuesday 21 Jul 2009 @ 13:10

Did you see the game Sean? sounds a little bit like you were watching something else!

56) seanyTuesday 21 Jul 2009 @ 17:10

Yes BM,my thoughts exactly!

57) legendWednesday 22 Jul 2009 @ 0:19

Good win for the U21s tonight despite being 10 players short beat St.Andrews 1-11 to 1-5. At a cost however 2 red cards for Ciarán Williamson and goalie Lee Buggle ,Outstanding for the hoops tonight were Joe Mernagh,Cormac Walshe,Danny Moran,Stephen Reilly,Robbie Power,Shane Redmond and Dotsy O'Shéa. Tinryland play Fenagh next Tuesday night in Semi-Final, Seniors play Kildavin on Friday at 7.00pm in Dr.Cullen we will have to show vast improvment to survive this acid test.

58) seanyWednesday 22 Jul 2009 @ 15:37

Fenagh will be tough in the semi next week but you think we would have enough for them.Eire Og are already in the final after they best MLR in the semi final last night.

59) seanWednesday 22 Jul 2009 @ 17:53

unfortunately 'B.M' i did see the game. good to hear the u21s are going well hopefully they make the final and give Eire og a rattlin. Kildavin will be strong but hopefully the game will go better than the one against rathvilly

60) martinSaturday 25 Jul 2009 @ 0:52

good win to night owned the ball should have scored more but a good wen after been destroyed by rathvilly.well don lads

61) legendSaturday 25 Jul 2009 @ 14:03

Good win alright Martin but Kildavin not in the same league as rathvilly. 18 wides kicked would not work against better opposition. Still we are now back on track and play Grange on Sunday week and then Fenagh and Eire Og. Two more wins will get us into the knockout stages. Good performances last night from Evan Doyle, Shane O'Neill, Brian Foster, Willie Power, Cormac Walshe, Paul Broderick and Niall Barrett. Good luck to the U21s on Tuesday next against Fenagh in Bagenalstown and to the Junior A team in their championship match with Ballinabranna on Thursday next. Where is the venue for that game?

62) seanySaturday 25 Jul 2009 @ 15:12

The junior A game is down for Ballon. The Junior B team are out against The Fighting Cocks on the 6th of August in McGrath park. The U 21 game will be tough against Fenagh, dont want to be geting ahead of ourselves but IF we make the final,it is down for the 5th of August provisionally.

63) martinTuesday 28 Jul 2009 @ 1:21

good win 4 fenagh over rathvilly .we have 2 up the antie if meet them .the played hard football with them50/50 .plus 2 sent off for rathvilly

64) seanWednesday 29 Jul 2009 @ 13:27

i might be wrong and i stand to be corrected but it seems as if there isn't much fight in our senior team. what can we do to change that? we need spirit

65) B.MWednesday 29 Jul 2009 @ 18:35

ah sean thats very harsh. remember its still a very young team, years will bring experience and strength. they will learn from evey championship game they play. get behind the lads and show some of your spirit.

66) seanyWednesday 29 Jul 2009 @ 21:55

Maybe some new players Sean. The team is good but most of the subs on the line have been training since the start of year(and every other year)yet they will never get near a start in the senior championship!!

67) seanThursday 30 Jul 2009 @ 17:02

well i'm not sure if we have the resources to attract players to the club. Is there any tinryland men good enough to play senior but not bothered? we should concentrat on getting them to play.

68) seanyThursday 30 Jul 2009 @ 23:41

I think any lads that want to and can play senior are prob down there already.I dont think we have to start looking,my point was mmost of the lads on the line who are training are prob bood enough, but they never even got chances in league or challenge game's.No we dont have the resources to be attracting players, but we do have the resources to lose them.Just my opinion is all.

69) seanyThursday 30 Jul 2009 @ 23:42

Sorry about the spelling,fat fingers,haha.

70) seanyThursday 6 Aug 2009 @ 17:12

Best of luck to Junior B's tonight in R1 of the championship against The Fighting Cocks in McGrath Park.If i can ake the game then i will give team later.

71) legendFriday 7 Aug 2009 @ 23:47

Good win for the Junior B team last night. Saw most of game. Was impressed by a few players notably D Townsend, J Mannion, A Mannion, M Moore, Good goals from A mannion and Jeff Abbott. They play in semi final next Tuesday against Rangers I think. U16s got a fierce beating from Blues tonight. Team looked very unfit for young lads. Blues and Eire Og in final. Tinryland seniors are in action next Sunday morning against Naas at 11 a.m. in Tinryland

72) seanySaturday 8 Aug 2009 @ 15:41

Legend,Junior B team are only in the quarter final now as that was only a preliminary round.

73) seanyThursday 13 Aug 2009 @ 0:56

Another win for the Junior B's last night over MLR.Think the final score was something like 3-13 to 1-0 i think.Mark Townsend ruled out for rest of campaign with a shoulder injury,a week after his cousin Luke Doyle suffered a similar injury. They are now in the semi final.Alot of impressive perfomances on the night.5 subs got a run.Scoring was equally spread out between Anthony and John Mannion,John Kelly(Captain),David Townsend while alot of scores were spread out between the rest of the team.Keep up the good work lads.

74) seanyWednesday 9 Sep 2009 @ 23:20

Very quiet on this site last few weeks since to our SFC defeats to Eire Og and Fenagh ended our season prematurely...again.Has everyone realised that since we have basically made no progress since winning the IFC five years ago now.Personally i think we are as far away from winning the Senior as we ever were. Also, hearing rumours(only rumours now)of one or two players looking for transfer requesta for next year.I wonder also will Ger and his team stay on for another year?!
